Gregory Wayne Abbott ( ; born November 13, 1957) is an American politician, attorney, and jurist who has served since 2015 as the 48th governor of Texas. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, he served from 2002 to 2015 as the 50th Texas Attorney General, attorney general of Texas and from 1996 to 2001 as a justice of the Texas Supreme Court. Abbott is the longest-serving incumbent governor in the United States. Abbott was the third Republican to serve as attorney general of Texas since the Reconstruction era, Reconstruction era. Gregory Stephen Abbott (born 14 December 1963) is an English football coach and former player He played as a right back or midfielder. Abbott was the manager of Carlisle United from December 2008 until September 2013. Born in Coventry, Abbott started his career with his hometown team Coventry City. He was released without playing a game but recommended to Bradford City, where he won the Division Three title in the 1984–85 season and went on to play more than 300 games. He had spells with Halifax Town and non-league Guiseley before he returned to The Football League with former manager Terry Dolan at Hull City. He spent four seasons with Hull playing another 100 games to take his career total to in excess of 500 first team matches. After retiring, he went into coaching. Gregory Abbott, known professionally as Reverend Gadget, is a steel fabrication artist, craftsman, prop builder and television personality based in Los Angeles, California. He is best known to television audiences as part of the build team on the short-lived Discovery Channel series ''Big!'' and has more recently been part of their other series ''Monster House (American TV series), Monster House'' and ''Smash Lab''. Although he continues to record to date, he is best known for his singles in the mid-1980s including his platinum single, " Shake You Down", from his 1986 debut album. Biography Early life Abbott was born in Harlem, New York. Abbott's parents were from Venezuela and Antigua. During his early years, Abbott's mother taught him how to play piano and encouraged him to develop vocally. Before his career as a musician, Abbott studied psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and creative writing at Stanford; where he won a Wallace Stegner fellowship.
