Greek Football League System
The Greek football league system consists of two professional leagues, one nationwide non-professional league and several regional non-professional leagues. Cup eligibility Greek Football Professional Cup: Levels 1 to 2 Greek Football Amateur Cup: Level 3 Promotion and relegation Super League 1: Bottom two clubs are relegated to the Super League 2. Super League 2: Winners of two groups are promoted to Super League 1. Bottom two clubs from each of the two groups are relegated to the Gamma Ethniki. Gamma Ethniki: The champions of each group are promoted to the Super League 2. Twenty seven teams in total are relegated to the Local Championships. The Greek Football Cup (), commonly known as the Greek Cup or Betsson Greek Cup for sponsorship reasons is a Greek football competition, run by the Hellenic Football Federation. The Greek Cup is the second-most important domestic men's football event, after the championship of Super League. The organizing authority of the institution is the Hellenic Football Federation ( EPO). Since its inception in 1931 it has been held 83 times, with a cup winner being crowned on 82 occasions. Greek Football Amateur Cup
Greek Amateur Cup (Greek: Κύπελλο Ερασιτεχνικών Ομάδων Ελλάδος) was the most known competitions for amateur AND semi-professional teams in Greece, organised by the Hellenic Football Federation . It was founded in 1971 and folded in 2018 featuring the winners of the prefectures Cups in a knock-out format. Despite the term ''amateur'' on its official name the competition always featured clubs from Delta Ethniki and later the third-tier Gamma Ethniki. The Super League Greece 1 (), or Stoiximan Super League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Greece and the highest level of the Greek football league system. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek league system. The members of the cooperative are the Football Limited Companies (P.A.E.) that have the right to participate in the Super League 1 championship. The Gamma Ethniki (, C National Division) is the Greek football league system, third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. Greek FCA Winners' Championship
The FCA Winners' Championship () is a Greek football league competition contested annually by the most recent winners of all local Football Clubs' Associations championships in Greece. It is not considered part of the Greek football league system, due to a lack of formal structure, requiring all local FCA championships to have been completed prior to its start. The FCA Winners' Championship was founded in 1968, and held annually during 1968−1977 going by the name "Amateur Championship" as a means of achieving promotion to the formally-structured ''Beta Ethniki'' (the official 2nd tier of the Greek football league system, renamed in 2010 to ''Football League''). The Piraeus Football Clubs Association (, abbreviated E.P.S.P. (Ε.Π.Σ.Π.) was founded in 1925 after the termination of E.P.S. Athens-Piraeus. It was the second largest football association in Greece and was officially recognized by FIFA alongside E.P.S. Athens, as the Hellenic Football Federation had not been established at the time. After the establishment of Alpha Ethniki it became the Piraeus Football Clubs Association for amateurs. Macedonia Football Clubs Association ( ''Énosi Podosferikón Somatíon Makedonías'' or Ε.Π.Σ.Μ.) is an association responsible for administering football in the Prefecture of Thessaloniki. It was formed in 1924 as ''Football Union of Macedonia and Thrace'' ( ''Podosferikí Énosi Makedonías Thrákis'') and it administrated football in the regions of West Macedonia, Central Macedonia and East Macedonia and Thrace. Since 1935 its area of responsibility was restricted within the borders of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki. Founding members of the union were Aris, Iraklis and Megas Alexandros.
