''Great Vengeance and Furious Fire'' is the debut studio album by English rock band The Heavy, released 17 September 2007 in the United Kingdom and 8 April 2008 in the United States. The album was released by Ninja Tune's new rock-based imprint Counter Records. The title is a reference to a line spoken by Samuel L. The Heavy (band)
The Heavy are an English Rock music, rock band from Bath, Somerset, England, formed in 2007. They have released six albums as well as a wide array of singles. Their music has been widely used in the media, with their 2009 single "How You Like Me Now? (The Heavy song), How You Like Me Now?" becoming their biggest hit. History Formed in 2007, the band included five members: Kelvin Swaby (lead vocals), Dan Taylor (guitar), Spencer Page (bass guitar), Chris Ellul (drums) and Amanda McWhirter (backing vocals). Swaby and Taylor became friends in 1998 when they bonded over vintage rhythm and blues, R&B music and Jim Jarmusch films and soon formed the band. The Heavy released two singles in the last half of 2007. Their first single was "That Kind of Man", which was released by Don't Touch Recordings and was mixed by Corin Dingley. Neo-soul
Neo soul (sometimes called progressive soul) is a genre of popular music. Ninja Tune
Ninja Tune is an independent record label based in London, with a satellite office in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1990 by musicians Matt Black and Jonathan More, known collectively as Coldcut. The label was established as an outlet for Coldcut to explore a style distinct from that of the mainstream music industry. History 1990–1999 Following a Coldcut tour in Japan with Norman Cook (a.k.a. ''The House That Dirt Built'' is the second studio album by English Rock music, rock band The Heavy (band), The Heavy. It was released on 5 October 2009. The title is a reference to the nursery rhyme This Is the House That Jack Built. Vocalist Kelvin Swaby explained in an interview with Songfacts that the song "Sixteen" was inspired by a time when he was working a lot as a DJ and he would see 16-year-old kids sneaking into clubs.
