Grand Chess Tour 2025
The Grand Chess Tour 2025 is a series of chess tournaments, which is the tenth edition of the Grand Chess Tour. It consists of six tournaments with a total prize pool of US$1.6 million, including two tournaments with classical time control and three tournaments with faster time controls, as well as the GCT Finals in São Paulo, which will be held for the first time since 2019. It marks the tenth anniversary of the Grand Chess Tour. Format The tour consists of six tournaments. Rapid & Blitz tournaments consist of two parts – rapid (2 points for win, 1 for draw) and blitz (1 point for win, 0.5 for draw). Combined result for both portions will count in overall standings. Top four after 5 tournaments will qualify to the tour finals in São Paulo. In the finals, players will play matches consisting of 2 classical games, 2 rapid games and 4 blitz games. 6 points will be awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 0 points for a loss in classical play. Alireza Firouzja
Alireza Firouzja (, ; born 18 June 2003) is an Iranian and French Grandmaster (chess), chess grandmaster. Firouzja is the youngest player to have surpassed a FIDE Elo rating system, rating of 2800, beating the previous record set by Magnus Carlsen by more than five months. A chess prodigy, Firouzja won the Iranian Chess Championship at age 12 and earned the Grandmaster (chess), Grandmaster title at 14. At 16, Firouzja became the second-youngest 2700-rated player. Nodirbek Abdusattorov
Nodirbek Abdusattorov (; born 18 September 2004) is an Uzbek chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he qualified for the grandmaster title at the age of 13 years, 1 month, and 11 days. FIDE awarded him the title in April 2018. He is Uzbekistan's highest-rated grandmaster and currently one of the best chess players in the world. Abdusattorov won the World Rapid Chess Championship 2021, becoming the youngest ever World Rapid Champion at 17 years and 3 months, and the youngest ever open world chess champion in any time format, breaking the record held by Magnus Carlsen, who was 18 years old when he won the World Blitz Chess Championship 2009. Leinier Domínguez
Leinier Domínguez Pérez (born September 23, 1983) is a Cuban and American chess grandmaster. A five-time Cuban champion, Domínguez was the world champion in blitz chess in 2008. He competed in the FIDE World Chess Championship in 2002 and 2004, and the FIDE World Cup in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2021, and 2023. Career Domínguez won the Carlos Torre Repetto Memorial in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico in 2001. He won the Cuban Chess Championship in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2012 and 2016. Lê Quang Liêm
Lê Quang Liêm (born 13 March 1991) is a Vietnamese chess grandmaster, the top-ranked of his country. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2006. Liêm won the Asian Chess Championship in 2019 and was the World Blitz Chess Champion in 2013. He has competed for the Vietnamese team at the Chess Olympiad since 2006. The best result occurred in 2012, when he scored 8/10 points on board 1 and his team finished in 7th place, the highest ever for Vietnam. Ivan Šarić (; born 17 August 1990) is a Croatian chess Grandmaster (chess), grandmaster. He earned his International Master, IM title in 2007, and his Grandmaster (chess), GM title in 2008. Sinquefield Cup
The Sinquefield Cup is an annual, closed chess tournament hosted by the Saint Louis Chess Club in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. It was first held in 2012 as a four-player round-robin tournament. In 2015, it became part of the Grand Chess Tour. In 2016, it was the Tour's third leg and the first slow time control event of the tour.
