Graham County, Arizona
Graham County is a county in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Arizona. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,533, making it the third-least populous county in Arizona. The county seat is Safford. Graham County composes the Safford, Arizona Micropolitan Statistical Area. The county is home to several organizations including Eastern Arizona College and the Mount Graham International Observatory, which includes one of the world's largest and most powerful telescopes. Graham County is also home to the Arizona Salsa Trail and the annual Salsa Fest. Graham County contains part of the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. History Joseph Knight Rogers, an early settler in the area, and a member of the Arizona Territorial Legislature, is known as the father of Graham County: he introduced the bill in the territorial legislature creating it. Graham County, Kansas
Graham County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat and most populous city is Hill City. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 2,415. The county was named for John Graham, a captain in the Civil War who died during the Battle of Chickamauga. The county is home to Nicodemus, founded in 1877, which is the only remaining western town established by African Americans during the Reconstruction period following the Civil War. Its county seat is Robbinsville, North Carolina, Robbinsville. History The county was formed January 30, 1872, from the northeastern part of Cherokee County, North Carolina, Cherokee County. It was named for William Alexander Graham, William A. Graham, United States Senate, United States Senator from North Carolina (1840–1843) and List of Governors of North Carolina, Governor of North Carolina (1845–1849). The first Graham County Courthouse was constructed in Robbinsville in 1874, but its floor collapsed two decades later while the building was packed during a murder trial.
