Graceland is a mansion on a estate in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, once owned by American singer Elvis Presley. Presley is buried there, as are his parents Vernon and Gladys, paternal grandmother Minnie Mae, grandson Benjamin, and daughter Lisa Marie. Graceland is located at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard in the Whitehaven neighborhood, about south of central Memphis and fewer than north of the Mississippi border. It was opened to the public as a house museum on June 7, 1982, and attracts more than 650,000 visitors annually. Graceland was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1991, becoming the first site recognized for significance related to rock music. It was declared a National Historic Landmark on March 27, 2006, also a first for such a site. Elvis' father, Vernon, first inherited Graceland after Elvis' death on August 16, 1977. Graceland (Elkins, West Virginia)
Graceland is a historic house on the campus of Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. It was the summer home of Henry Gassaway Davis, a United States senator from 1871–1883, and a major force in West Virginia's coal industry in the late 19th century. The mansion was completed in 1893. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the National Historic Landmark Davis and Elkins Historic District. It is now the centerpiece of an inn and conference center. Graceland Cemetery is a large historic garden cemetery located in the north side community area of Uptown, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Established in 1860, its main entrance is at the intersection of Clark Street and Irving Park Road. Among the cemetery's are the burial sites of several well-known Chicagoans. Graceland includes a naturalistic reflecting lake, surrounded by winding pathways, and its pastoral plantings have led it to become a certified arboretum of more than 2,000 trees. The cemetery's wide variety of burial monuments include a number designed by famous architects, several of whom are also buried in the cemetery. ''Graceland'' is the seventh solo studio album by the American singer-songwriter Paul Simon. It was produced by Simon, engineered by Roy Halee and released on August 25, 1986, by Warner Bros. Records. It incorporates genres including pop music, pop, rock music, rock, ''a cappella'', zydeco, and Music of South Africa, South African styles such as ''isicathamiya'' and ''mbaqanga''. In the early 1980s, Simon's relationship with his former musical partner Art Garfunkel had deteriorated, his marriage to the actress Carrie Fisher had collapsed, and his previous record, ''Hearts and Bones'' (1983), had been a commercial failure. "Graceland" is the title song of the album ''Graceland'', released in 1986 by Paul Simon. The song features vocals by the Everly Brothers. The lyrics follow the singer's thoughts during a road trip to Graceland after the failure of his marriage. Actress and author Carrie Fisher, Simon's ex-wife, said that the song referred in part to their relationship. Reception '' Billboard'' said that "Remarkable supporting players from his South Africa sessions make Simon's multiple-meaning musings into something subtly exotic." Graceland is a short film directed by Anocha Suwichakornpong in 2006. The film follows an Elvis impersonator who travels from Bangkok into the countryside with a mysterious stranger. It premiered at 59th Cannes Film Festival. It was the first Thai short film to be officially selected by Cannes Film Festival.
