__NOTOC__ The governor of Uva, Sri Lanka ( si, ඌව පළාත් ආණ්ඩුකාරවරයා ''Ūva palāth āndukāravarayā''), is responsible for the management of the Uva Provincial Council. Some of the office's key functions include exercising powers vested in the governor by the Provincial Council Act No. 42 of 1987 amended by Act No. 28 of 1990 and the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. The current Governor is Maithri Gunaratne. Chief ministers in Sri Lanka are elected heads of the provincial boards of ministers, bodies which aid and advice the governors, the heads of the provincial government, in the exercise of their executive power. The governor appoints as chief minister a member of the provincial council who, in his opinion, commands the support of a majority of that council. There are nine chief ministerial positions in the country, out of which only six are currently occupied, while 3 are vacant and under the governor's direct rule. Bodiyabaduge Marshal Anslem Romanis Perera (1930/1931 – 30 May 2020) ( PC) was a Sri Lankan politician and governor of Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces. He served as Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province, in office between January 2015 and April 2018. He served as Governor of the country's Southern Province from 12 April 2018 to 31 December 2018 and also served as Governor of Uva Province from 9 January 2019 to 3 August 2019. Perera was called to the bar on 15 June 1955 and in July 2006, after fifty years in the legal profession, was appointed as a President's Counsel.
