John Carney (Delaware Politician)
John Charles Carney Jr. (born May 20, 1956) is an American politician serving as the List of governors of Delaware, 74th governor of Delaware since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, Carney served as the United States House of Representatives, U.S. representative for from 2011 to 2017 and as the List of lieutenant governors of Delaware, 24th lieutenant governor of Delaware from 2001 to 2009. He also served as Delaware's secretary of finance from 1996 to 2000. He first unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for governor in 2008 Delaware gubernatorial election, 2008, losing to Jack Markell. Mark Carney
Mark Joseph Carney (born March 16, 1965) is a Canadian economist and banker who served as the governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and the governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020. Since October 2020, he is vice chairman and head of Impact Investing at Brookfield Asset Management. He was the chair of the Financial Stability Board from 2011 to 2018. Prior to his governorships, Carney worked at Goldman Sachs as well as the Department of Finance Canada. Early life Carney was born on March 16, 1965, in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, the son of Verlie Margaret (née Kemper) and Robert James Martin Carney. Thomas Carney
Thomas Carney (August 20, 1824 – July 28, 1888) was the second Governor of Kansas. Biography Carney was born in Delaware County, Ohio, to James and Jane (Ostrander) Carney. James died in 1828, leaving a widow and four young sons. Thomas remained at home farming with his mother until age 19. He was educated in Berkshire, Ohio, where he lived with an uncle. He worked in mercantile businesses and finally established a successful wholesale business in Leavenworth, Kansas. The year he was elected to the state legislature, he married Rebecca Ann Cannady. Career After his term as State Representative, Carney was elected Governor of Kansas and served from 1863 through 1865. During his tenure, he devoted his efforts to developing the state and addressing the issues caused by the Civil War. He was elected Mayor of Leavenworth in 1865.
