The Naalakkersuisut or the Government of Greenland () is the chief executive body, the cabinet and the government of Greenland since the island became self-governing in 1979. As an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland is a parliamentary representative democratic territory, in which the premier () leads the cabinet, and of a multi-party system. There are currently 10 members of the Cabinet, known as "Ministers" (), all of whom are also heads of specific government ministries. The ministers are appointed by the Prime Minister. The Greenlandic government currently consists of 10 ministers including the Prime Minister. Executive power Executive power rests with a high commissioner, and a prime minister heads the Cabinet. Atassut
Atassut (, also referred to as Feeling of Community) is a liberal-conservative and unionist political party in Greenland. Founded on 29 April 1978, Atassut is an established partner of Venstre. History Atassut was established in late 1976 as a political movement of conservative and unionist forces in Greenland to oppose Siumut with Lars Chemnitz as its leading figure; however, it soon became more liberal. Its first programme from January 1977 stated that its purpose was to "promote Greenlandic home rule within the Unity of the Realm" and "work against secession from the Danish realm." The Inatsisartut (, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Greenland in English, is the unicameral parliament (legislative branch) of Greenland, an autonomous territoryMultiple sources: * * * in the Danish Realm. Established in 1979, the parliament convenes in the Inatsisartut building, located on an islet in Nuuk Centrum in central Nuuk. The Inatsisartut is composed of 31 members, who are elected for four-year terms through proportional representation. History Of Greenland
The history of Greenland is a history of life under extreme Arctic conditions: currently, an ice sheet covers about eighty percent of the island, restricting human activity largely to the coasts. The first humans are thought to have arrived in Greenland around 2500 BCE. Their descendants most likely died out and were replaced and succeeded by several other human groups migrating from continental North America since then. There has been no evidence discovered that Greenland was known to Norsemen until the 9th century CE, when Norse Icelandic explorers settled on its southwestern coast. The ancestors of the Greenlandic Inuit who live there today appear to have migrated there later, around the year 1200, across the Nares Strait from northern Canada. Maasi Pedersen
Maasi is a village in Saaremaa Parish, Saare County, on the eastern part of Saaremaa Island, Estonia. It is located just northwest from Orissaare, the administrative centre of the municipality. Maasi is bordered by Väike väin Straits on its northeastern side. The village has a population of 4100(as of 1 January 2012). Before the administrative reform in 2017, the village was in Orissaare Parish. During the reform, village of Laheküla was merged into village of Maasi. Anna Wangenheim (née Mikkelsen; born August 1982) is a Greenlandic politician ( Demokraatit). Early life and career Anna Wangenheim is the middle of three daughters of Danish carpenter Henning Mikkelsen and Greenlandic hospital administrator Karline Kristiansen, a daughter of the sheep farmer Abel Kristiansen. Through her mother, she is the niece of Benedikte Thorsteinsson (b. 1950) and cousin of Vittus Qujaukitsoq (b. 1971). Her mother died of cancer when Anna was 18 and her father also had cancer three years later. After her father actually wanted her to become a nurse, she began studying journalism at the journalism school in Nuuk after graduating from school in 2003 due to her parents' illnesses. Vivian Motzfeldt is a Greenlandic politician who has been serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greenland since 2022. Prior to that, she served as the speaker of the Inatsisartut, the Parliament of Greenland, and the chairwoman of Siumut.
