History Since 1976, government grants have been provided for film production every fiscal year to encourage talent and creativity in the film industry. Mahfuj Alam () also known as Mahfuj Abdullah, is a Bangladeshi activist and was a coordinator of the liaison committee of Anti-discrimination Students Movement which led the Student–People's uprising. He currently holds the position of the Adviser for Information and Broadcasting. Early life and education Alam was born in 1998 in Narayanpur village, located in the Ramganj Upazila of Lakshmipur district. He completed his SSC (Dakhil) from Gallak Darussunnat Alim Madrasa in Chandpur, and later passed his HSC (Alim) from Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa. ''Surja Dighal Bari'' (''The Ominous House'') is a 1979 Bangladeshi feature film directed and produced by Sheikh Niamat Ali and Masihuddin Shaker. Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) is the news agency of Bangladesh. BSS was established on 1 January 1972 by the Government of Bangladesh soon after the Bangladesh Liberation War.
