GOtv is a pay television terrestrial service in sub-Saharan Africa owned by broadcaster MultiChoice and launched on 5 September 2011. It mainly consists of African and international programming. History The terrestrial TV service was founded in October 2011 by MultiChoice. It features news channels such as the BBC, Al Jazeera and CNN, sports channels such as SuperSport and ESPN, local & international content from Africa Magic and M-Net Movies among others, including free-to-air channels. SuperSport is a South African-based group of television channels carried on the DStv & Canal+ satellite platforms alongside the GOtv terrestrial platform and Showmax Pro for live sports programming. It provides sports content in South Africa, Nigeria and all Sub-Saharan Africa countries. M-Net Movies is a group of South Africa, South Africa-based film-only television channels launched as Movie Magic in 1995 and broadcast across Sub-Saharan Africa on pay TV satellite television, satellite services DStv and GOtv. John Ugbe
John Ugbe is a Nigerian business executive. He is the chief executive officer at MultiChoice Nigeria. He was the chairman of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria till November 2023. Education He studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Federal University of Technology Owerri. He got his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool. Career In 1998, John joined MultiChoice Nigeria as a help desk analyst. He moved to MWEB where he worked as an IT Manager between 2003 and 2006. In March 2006, he became the General Manager of MWEB Nigeria and joined iWayAfrica Nigeria in 2007. He returned to MultiChoice to serve as managing director in October 2011. Africa Magic is a collection of Pay TV entertainment channels that focus on African programming, most popularly Nigerian series and movies. ''Africa Magic'', which started off as single channel of the same name, is a brand owned by M-Net and now comprises seven channels.
