Verwood
Verwood is a town and civil parish in eastern Dorset, England. The town lies north of Bournemouth and north east of Poole as the crow flies. The civil parish comprises the town of Verwood together with the extended village of Three Legged Cross, and in 2014 had a population of 15,170 (according to Dorset County Council). Verwood is the largest town in Dorset without an upper school. It sits on the River Crane which later becomes Moors River. History Early history Verwood was originally recorded as ''Beau Bois'' (Norman French: "beautiful wood") in 1288, and it was not until 1329 that it got the name ''Verwood'', which developed from ''Fairwood'' or ''The Fayrewood''. Clocker (train)
The ''Clocker'' was a passenger train service between Philadelphia and New York City on the Northeast Corridor at first by the Pennsylvania Railroad and later by Amtrak. The service was nicknamed the ''Clocker'' by riders as trains were scheduled to leave each terminal at the top of the hour. The name was eventually adopted into official use by Amtrak in 1981. The service was briefly renamed ''Acela Commuter'' in 1999 before the name reverted to ''Clocker'' in 2003. Nicholas Ivor Gotham, known as Nic Gotham, (27 September 1959 – 25 July 2013) was a Canadian jazz saxophonist and composer. His 1992 chamber opera, '' Nigredo Hotel'', won two Dora Awards and was nominated for the Floyd S. Chalmers Canadian Play Award. Biography Life and career Gotham was born in Eastleigh, England and grew up in Ancaster, Ontario where his family emigrated when he was four years old. Gotham Bar and Grill was a New American restaurant located at 12 East 12th Street (between Fifth Avenue and University Place), in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, in New York City. It opened in 1984.
