Gorton and Denton is a List of UK Parliament constituencies, constituency of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons in the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which came into being for the 2024 United Kingdom general election, 2024 general election, following to the 2023 periodic review of Westminster constituencies. Since 2024, it has been represented by Andrew Gwynne, who was MP for Denton and Reddish (UK Parliament constituency), Denton and Reddish from 2005 to 2024. Manchester Gorton was a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. It was the safest Labour seat in Greater Manchester by numerical majority and one of the safest in the country. Manchester Gorton was abolished for the 2024 general election. It will be split into the new constituencies of Manchester Rusholme and Gorton and Denton. Constituency profile The seat covered Gorton, Fallowfield, Levenshulme, Longsight, Rusholme and Whalley Range to the south and east of the city centre, which are diverse and liberal suburbs, with some levels of deprivation such as in Longsight. Longsight is an inner city area of Manchester, England, south of the Manchester City Centre, city centre, bounded by Ardwick and Gorton, West Gorton to the north and east; Levenshulme to the south; and Chorlton-on-Medlock, Victoria Park, Manchester, Victoria Park and Fallowfield to the west.
