Prahladan Gopalan
Puthiyapurayil Gopalan popularly known as Prahladan Gopalan was an Indian National Congress politician from Kerala, India. He represented Madayi Assembly constituency in the second Kerala Legislative Assembly. Biography Puthiyapurayil Gopalan was born on 1922, as one of the five children of R. Kunhiraman Master and P. Madhavi Amma, a Malabar District School Teacher. His father was a man who was widely criticized for the Dalit upliftment put forward by Mahatma Gandhi and had to accept humiliation even from his own community. Gopalan became an untrained teacher in 1938 at the age of 16. At that time he participated in a teachers' strike against a meeting called ''Gurujan Sabha'', which is compulsory every Saturday, conducted in RKUP school where his father was the manager. His father was in favor of the meeting. People started calling Gopalan along with the name of Prahlada in Hindu mythology after he succeeded in his struggle against his own father over the issue. Prema Gopalan
Prema Gopalan (1955/1956 – 29 March, 2022) was an Indian social activist. She co-founded the Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centers (SPARC) in 1984. She then founded and has been executive director of Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP) for over 20 years, supporting poor rural women in entrepreneurial schemes. She is also well known for disaster relief work in Bihar, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Gopalan has received awards from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Nations Development Programme. She died on 29 March 2022 after a short illness at the age of 66. Early life Prema Gopalan was born in Pune, India. Shyamala Gopalan
Shyamala Gopalan (December 7, 1938 – February 11, 2009) was a biomedical scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, whose work in isolating and characterizing the progesterone receptor gene has stimulated advances in breast biology and oncology. She was the mother of Kamala Harris (former vice president of the United States who also served as attorney general of California and senator,) and Maya Harris, a lawyer and political commentator. ''Crazy Gopalan'' is a 2008 Indian Malayalam-language heist action comedy film directed by Deepu Karunakaran. The film stars Dileep in the title role with Salim Kumar, Jagathy Sreekumar, Manoj K. Gopulu
S. Gopalan, pen-name Gopulu (18 June 1924 – 29 April 2015), was a Tamil illustrator and cartoonist, known for his work for the Tamil humour magazine ''Ananda Vikatan''. Born in Tanjore in 1924, Gopulu spent his early years in the city. He studied at the Kumbakonam School of Art. In 1941, he came to Chennai looking for a job in ''Ananda Vikatan''. There, he met "Mali", a cartoonist who commissioned a number of paintings for the magazine's Deepavali special. It was not till December 1944, however, that Mali offered Gopulu a job at the magazine. Mali was also the one who gave Gopulu his pen-name. In the course of the next twenty or so years, till 1968, Gopulu did political cartoons, cover designs and illustrated columns for the magazine. As an illustrator, Gopulu worked on popular serials such as ''Thillana Mohanambal'' and ''Washingtonil Thirumanam''.
