Golla (caste)
The Golla are a Telugu-speaking pastoral community primarily living in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana with smaller numbers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. They are related to other pastoral-herding castes like Gulla, Gullar (in Karnataka), Gollewar and Gavli (in the Marathwada area of Maharashtra State) and are a part of the larger Yadav community. They are classified as a Other Backward Caste. Gollas are traditionally cowherds, but they engage in both sheep/goat and cattle pastoralism, in that they either herd exclusively sheep, a mixed herd of sheep and goats, or cattle. Etymology One etymology for ''Golla'' name comes from the Sanskrit "Gopala", which in North India passed through Prakrit "Gwala". Golla Oy is a Finnish design company making cases and bags for urban lifestyle. One of the central aspects of Golla's products is their unique design. Golla products have been sold in more than 100 countries. Currently Golla has offices in Finland, Germany and China. The company's headquarters is located in Helsinki, Finland, where the product design also occurs. History Golla was established in the small rural town of Kolla, Finland in 1994, where it began producing design items such as CD stands and racks. One of these early models was sold in the gift shop of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Golla later designed protective cases for mobile phones. George Golla
George Golla (born 10 May 1935) is an Australian jazz guitarist. In 1959 he commenced a long-term working musical partnership with clarinetist/flautist/saxophonist Don Burrows that continued for almost 40 years. Biography Golla was born on 10 May 1935 in Chorzów, Poland. He emigrated to Australia in the 1950s and began working in Sydney from 1957. In 1959, he commenced a long-term working musical partnership with the clarinetist, flautist and saxophonist Don Burrows that continued for almost forty years. They recorded frequently together and in quartets and other combinations. Together they nurtured and featured many young talents, including brassman and multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, guitarist Guy Strazzullo, drummer David Jones and others they taught at the New South Wales Conservatorium. Victor Golla
Victor Golla (1939–2021) was a linguist who specialized in the indigenous languages of California and Oregon, especially the Pacific Coast Athabaskan subgroup of the Athabaskan language family and the languages of the region that belong to the Penutian phylum. He was emeritus professor of anthropology at Humboldt State University and lived in Trinidad, California. Life and work Golla was born in Santa Rosa, California, and grew up in the small town of Mt. Shasta, in the far north of the state, where his father was a funeral director and deputy coroner of Siskiyou County. The family moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1952, and Golla attended high school in Oakland. Johannes Golla (born 5 November 1997) is a German handball player for SG Flensburg-Handewitt and the German national team. Since 2021, he has been the captain of the German national team, succeeding Uwe Gensheimer. Career Golla started playing handball at the age of 5 at TG Eltville. In 2015 he joined MT Melsungen. In 2016, he debuted for the senior team in the Bundesliga.
