Gold Rush (web Series)
''Gold Rush'' is an American reality competition web series created by Mark Burnett, designed by AOL, developed by VPI.Net and hosted by Mark Steines, that was released on AOL in 2006. The format was of an internet scavenger hunt that is offering chances to win $US50,000, $100,000 and $1,000,000. In a November 2006 interview, Burnett discussed creating a second round of ''Gold Rush'', but it did not come to fruition. Overview ''Gold Rush'' consisted of 13 rounds of gameplay. In order to qualify for a chance to win, participants had to correctly complete a series of tasks on AOL.com's ''Gold Rush'' hub in order to stockpile virtual gold bars. Many of these tasks consisted of pop culture trivia challenges and online games. A web series (also known as a web show) is a series of scripted or non-scripted online videos, generally in episodic form, released on the Internet, which first emerged in the late 1990s and became more prominent in the early 2000s. A single instance of a web series program can be called an episode or a " webisode", however the term is not always used. In general, web series can be watched on a range of platforms and devices, including desktop, laptop, tablets and smartphones. They are different from streaming television, which can be watched on various streaming platforms. Mark Burnett
Mark Burnett (born 17 July 1960) is a television producer who is the former Chairman of MGM Worldwide Television Group. He is best known for creating and producing the reality shows ''The Apprentice'', ''Survivor'', The Voice (franchise), ''The Voice'', and ''Shark Tank''. Burnett-produced TV series have been nominated for a total of 143 Emmys. Mark Steines
Mark Anthony Steines (born June 7, 1964) is an American broadcast journalist and actor who was host of the syndicated gossip and entertainment round-up program ''Entertainment Tonight'' from 2004 to 2012, joining the program on August 24, 1995. He left the show on July 27, 2012. From 2012 to 2018, he co-hosted Hallmark Channel's '' Home and Family''. Personal life Steines was born in Dubuque, Iowa, one of two sons. He graduated from Hempstead High School in Dubuque, Iowa. He then went to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on a football scholarship, graduating with a B.A. in radio and television.
