Gold Rush (music Festival)
Gold Rush was a music festival held at Lake Amador in Amador County, California, on October 4, 1969. The festival was sponsored and promoted by music manager Robert Strand, disc jockey Gene Lane, and professor James Davis. Overview There were concerns that the festival would cause a disruption in the area. Residents of the nearby cities Ione, California and Jackson, California were "shook up' about the prospects of hosting hordes of rock music enthusiasts." According to '' The Sun-Telegram'', "one county official wanted to short circuit the festival by cutting off the electricity to the site, but he was overruled by the board for supervisors." Linn County (band)
Linn County was an American blues-based band based in Iowa, and later in San Francisco, California. Linn County released three albums from 1968 to 1970. Over the course of their existence, they had seven band members. History Linn County formed around 1966 in Linn County, Iowa, United States as the Prophets. In 1968, the band signed with Mercury Records, moved to San Francisco, and changed its name to Linn County. They released their first album ''Proud Flesh Soothseer'' in 1968, and toured performing with bands and musicians such as Albert King, Led Zeppelin, Sly & the Family Stone, Eric Burdon & the Animals and Ten Years After. John Fahey (musician)
John Aloysius Fahey ( ; February 28, 1939 – February 22, 2001) was an American fingerstyle guitarist and composer who played the steel-string acoustic guitar as a solo instrument. His style has been enormously influential and has been described as the foundation of the genre of American primitive guitar, a term borrowed from painting and referring mainly to the self-taught nature of the music and its minimalist style. Fahey borrowed from the folk music, folk and blues traditions in American roots music, having compiled many forgotten early recordings in these genres. He would later incorporate 20th-century classical music, 20th-century classical, Portuguese, Brazilian, and Indian influences into his work. Fahey spent many of his later years in poverty and poor health, but enjoyed a minor career resurgence in the late 1990s, with a turn towards the avant-garde. Cold Blood is a long-standing R&B horn funk band founded by Larry Field in 1968, and was originally based in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. The band has also performed and recorded under the name Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, due to the popularity of their lead singer, Lydia Pense . History The band first came to prominence in 1969 when rock impresario Bill Graham signed them after an audition, and they played the Fillmore West in San Francisco.
