Godfrey Alan "Goff" Letts (born 18 January 1928) is the former Majority Leader of the Northern Territory of Australia from 1974 to 1977. Born in Donald, Victoria, Letts attended Melbourne Grammar and Melbourne and Sydney Universities, graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1950. Letts gained employment with the Victorian Department of Agriculture and married Joyce Crosby on 29 November 1952. Together they had three sons and three daughters.Heatley, A. The Goff Homestead is a historic colonial American house at 40 Maple Lane in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. The Goff Petroglyph Site is a rock art site in Independence County, Arkansas, in the general vicinity of Salado. The site has been known since the 19th century, and was first described by amateurs in 1937, but was not formally examined by archaeologists until 1979. Longwall Mining
Longwall mining is a form of underground coal mining where a long wall of coal is mined in a single slice (typically thick). The longwall panel (the block of coal that is being mined) is typically long (but can be upto long) and wide. History The basic idea of longwall mining was developed in England in the late 17th century. Miners undercut the coal along the width of the coal face, removing coal as it fell, and used wooden props to control the fall of the roof behind the face. This was known as the Shropshire method of mining. While the technology has changed considerably, the basic idea remains the same, to remove essentially all of the coal from a broad coal face and allow the roof and overlying rock to collapse into the void behind, while maintaining a safe working space along the face for the miners.
