Belgium was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971 with the song "", composed by Paul Quintens, with lyrics by Phil van Cauwenbergh, and performed by Jacques Raymond and Lily Castel. The Belgian participating broadcaster, Dutch-speaking (BRT), selected its entry through a national final. Raymond and Castel had not taken part in the national final, which was won by Nicole and Hugo, Nicole & Hugo performing the song. BRT called them as late replacements shortly before Eurovision, as Nicole had fallen ill and was unable to travel. Nicole & Hugo would represent . Before Eurovision was the national final format developed by Dutch-speaking broadcaster (BRT) which determined the song that would represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971. Armand Preud'homme (21 February 1904, in Peer – 7 February 1986, in Brasschaat) was a Belgian componist and organist. Biography Preud'homme studied at the Limburg Organ and Singing School in Hasselt with Arthur Meulemans and at the Lemmens Institute in Mechelen with Jules Van Nuffel, Marinus De Jong and Flor Peeters. Halle (; , ) is a Belgian city and municipality in the Halle-Vilvoorde district (''arrondissement'') of the province of Flemish Brabant. Paule Herreman (1919 – 3 October 1991) was a Belgian actress and television presenter for National Institute of Broadcasting (INR). Career Early life Daughter of the Dutch-speaking poet Raymond Herreman, Paule Herreman studied Germanic philology. VRT 1 is a public Dutch-language TV station in Belgium, owned by the VRT, which also owns Ketnet, VRT Canvas and several radio stations. Although the channel is commercial-free, short sponsorship messages are broadcast in between some programmes.
