Gods In The Spirit
''Gods in the Spirit'' is a collaborative EP by Los Angeles rapper Blu and Virginia record producer Nottz, released on October 22, 2013 through Coalmine Records. The six-track record was entirely produced by Nottz and includes guest appearances from Nitty Scott, MC, Aloe Blacc, ANTHM and Homeboy Sandman among others. The lead single, "Boyz II Men," was leaked on October 2, 2013. Reception HipHopDX's Dean Mayorga gave the album a three out of five, saying "While it's enjoyable to varying degrees, ''Gods in the Spirit'' is a misleading name for a project with little ambitions beyond being a good listen." Johnson Barnes III (born April 15, 1983), better known by his stage name Blu, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his group Blu & Exile and their debut album '' Below the Heavens'' (2007). He is a forefront member of the California-based collective, Dirty Science. Blu is also co-CEO of New World Color, a label through which he has released many of his projects. Okayplayer
Okayplayer is an online hip-hop and alternative music website and community, described by ''Rolling Stone'' as a "tastemaker" and "an antidote to dull promotional Web sites used by most artists". The community was founded by The Roots' drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and author Angela Nissel as a loose musical collective in 1987, and evolved into an online community in 1999. In 2004, Questlove launched Okayplayer Records as a spin-off of the community, in partnership with Decon. After a near-decade hiatus, the label was rebooted in 2012 with Danny! as its flagship artist. ANTHM is a rapper from Manhattan, NY. Of Ethiopian descent, ANTHM was born in Russia, but spent parts of his childhood in Germany and Dallas, Texas. Before pursuing a rap career, ANTHM attended Duke University, then went on to become a trader at the Wall Street firm Citigroup.
