Glossina Tabaniformis
''Glossina tabaniformis'' is one of the 23 recognized species of Tsetse fly, tsetse flies (genus ''Glossina''), and it belongs to the forest/''fusca'' group (subgenus ''Austenina''). Distribution ''Glossina tabaniformis'' was historically reported from Central Africa, but with pockets extending also to West Africa as far as Liberia or Guinea.Ford, J. & Katondo, K.M. 1977. Tsetse ( , or ) (sometimes spelled tzetze; also known as tik-tik flies) are large, biting flies that inhabit much of tropical Africa. Tsetse flies include all the species in the genus ''Glossina'', which are placed in their own family, Glossinidae. The tsetse is an obligate parasite, which lives by feeding on the blood of vertebrate animals. Tsetse has been extensively studied because of their role in transmitting disease.
