Global Award For Sustainable Architecture
The Global Award for Sustainable Architecture was founded in 2006 by architect and scholar Jana Revedin. The Global Award Community, which in 2022 consists of the 75 contemporary architects or architect collectives from around the globe who have previously received the award, works towards a sustainable architectural ethics and fosters research, experimentation, and transmission in the fields of sustainable architecture, urban renewal, and academic social responsibility. It defines architecture as an agent of community empowerment, development and civic rights. Each year, the award honours five architects who share a common belief in more sustainable development and who have pioneered innovative and holistic approaches in their own communities, in western and emerging countries, in developed cities and precarious districts, in megalopolises, and in the countryside. Jana Revedin
Jana Revedin is a German scholar, researcher, architect and professor thereof. Born in Konstanz, Germany, Revedin has a degree from the Polytechnic University of Milan and a Doctor of Architecture from Università Iuav di Venezia. Having previously taught at Iuav, Umeå University, and the Blekinge Institute of Technology, , she was a professor at École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris and a UNESCO delegate. Shlomo Aronson (Hebrew: שלמה אהרונסון); November 27, 1936 – September 12, 2018) was an Israeli landscape architect. His works range from master plans for reforestation to archaeological parks and freeway planting schemes to urban plazas. Biography Shlomo Aronson was born in Haifa, Mandatory Palestine. Aronson went to the United States to study landscape architecture as an undergraduate student and received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) from the University of California, Berkeley in 1963. Salma Samar Damluji
Salma Samar Damluji (born in Beirut in 1954), is an Iraqi British architect, professor and author. She graduated from the AA School of Architecture in 1977 and from the Royal College of Art in London in 1987, where she did her doctorate. She worked with the Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy in Cairo, in 1975-6 and in 1984–5. She was appointed architectural advisor to the UAE minister Shaykh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2001–2004 on The Shaykh Zayed Grand Mosque project and other projects in Abu Dhabi. David Lake is an American architect and principal in the Texas firm of LakeFlato with Ted Flato. Lake grew up in Texas and received his B.S. in Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976 where he was a student of Pliny Fisk III. Martin Rajniš
Martin Rajniš (born 16 May 1944, Prague) is a Czech architect, urbanist and professor. His architecture design career spans over fifty years and he taught at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague from 1990 a 1997 and later at the Technical University of Liberec. He designed High-tech architecture, high-tech buildings in the 1980s and 1990s, and since 2000, he shifted the materiality and aesthetics of his designs from steel and concrete to "naturalistic" wood, stone and glass, resulting in a number of experimental and organically shaped structures.
