Glimmer Glass Bridge
The Glimmer Glass Bridge is a county owned bridge in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It carries traffic from Brielle Road over the Glimmer Glass, a navigable tidal inlet of the Manasquan River, between Manasquan and Brielle. It has also been on the National Register of Historic Places, since 2008. Due to its age, Commercial vehicles cannot be driven over it. It also allows Bicycles and pedestrians to walk on the wooden sidewalk. History The Glimmer Glass Bridge was built in 1898. It is a cable lift bascule bridge, using a rolling counterweight design and is technologically and historically significant as the only example of its type in New Jersey. East Taihang Glasswalk
The East Taihang Glasswalk was a skywalk bridge located in East Taihang Mountains, Hebei Province, China. Opened in October 2017 it is built above sea level, stretches long, and is roughly wide. The bridge was the subject of some controversy for a special effect that made it appear as if the glass was cracking beneath the feet of those trying to cross it. Infrared sensors would determine when a pedestrian was walking across the bridge, at which point light decorations and sound effects would produce the illusion of glass cracking. The administration of East Taihang officially apologized for the illusion shortly after the bridge's opening, saying that the effect was designed to be "provocative". The East Taihang Glasswalk was part of a larger design scheme in China to create "invisible" glass-bottomed footbridges. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Zhangjiajie Glass footpath is a skywalk bridge in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, above the Wulingyuan area. The bridge, built as an attraction for tourists, is glass-bottomed and is transparent. When it opened it was the longest and tallest glass bottomed bridge in the world. The bridge, opened to the public on 20 August 2016, measures in total length and in width, and is suspended about above the ground. The bridge spans the canyon between two mountain cliffs in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the northwest of Hunan province. It is designed to carry up to 800 visitors at a time. The bridge was designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan. To build the bridge, engineers erected four support pillars on the edges of the walls of the canyon. Vagamon Glass Bridge
The Vagamon Glass Bridge is a cantilever skywalk glass bridge in Vagamon, Kerala, India. With a length of 40 metres, the bridge is the longest cantilever glass bridge in Idukki District. It was built at the Idukki District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) adventure park with the initiative of DTPC. It was opened to public on 6 September 2023. Overview The Vagamon glass bridge is the first glass bridge in Kerala. It is made of five layers of 40mm glass that was imported from Germany, and 35 tonnes of steel support the entire glass construction. The steel pillars on the mountain's summit are joined by six metal cables that support the bridge. The bridge has been designed and constructed with a private partnership under the Idukki DTPC.
