The Glasgow Micropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties in Kentucky, anchored by the city of Glasgow, Kentucky, Glasgow. As of the United States Census, 2000, 2000 census, the μSA had a population of 48,070 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 51,810). Wisdom is an unincorporated community located in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, United States. It was also known as Nicols and Old Randolph. Geography Wisdom is located in west-central Metcalfe County at 37°00′14″N 85°43′12″W and is part of the Glasgow Micropolitan Area. U.S. Route 68/Kentucky Route 80 and Kentucky Route 640 intersect at the center of the community, and the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway passes south of the community center, with the closest access point 3.7 miles east at the Edmonton exit. Summer Shade is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 294. History Originally the area was known as "Sartain Precinct" and later as "Glover's Creek"; W.M. Riggs, the postmaster, changed the name to Summer Shade in 1872. Geography Summer Shade is located in southwestern Metcalfe County. Kentucky Route 90 (KY 90), connecting Glasgow to Burkesville and the Dale Hollow Lake area, runs through Summer Shade. Glasgow is to the northwest, while Burkesville is to the southeast. KY 640 leads north from Summer Shade to Wisdom and to Knob Lick. Eighty Eight, Kentucky
Eighty Eight is an unincorporated community in Barren County, Kentucky, United States. It is part of the Glasgow Micropolitan Statistical Area and is 10 miles east of Glasgow on State Highway 90. The community held celebrations on August 8, 1988 (08/08/88) and August 8, 2008 (08/08/08). Name As reported in an article in ''The New York Times'', the community was named in 1860 by Dabnie Nunnally, the community's first postmaster. He had little faith in the legibility of his handwriting, and thought that using numbers would solve the problem. He then reached into his pocket and came up with 88 cents. Another explanation is that the hamlet is 8.8 miles from Glasgow. The only store in this small community was opened and run by the Richardson Brothers. Park City, Kentucky
Park City is a home rule-class city in Barren County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 614 at the 2020 census. It is the entrance to nearby Mammoth Cave National Park and to Diamond Caverns, a privately owned cave attraction. Exit 48 off I-65 is the only direct access exit to the Mammoth Cave National Park.
