Garbage (band)
Garbage is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin. The band's line-up consisting of Scottish musician Shirley Manson (vocals) and American musicians Duke Erikson (guitar, bass, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums, percussion) has remained unchanged since its inception. All four members are involved in songwriting and production. Garbage has sold over 17 million albums worldwide. The band's 1995 Garbage (album), eponymous debut album was critically acclaimed, selling over four million copies and achieving music recording sales certification, double platinum certification in the UK, the US, and Australia. Screaming Females
Screaming Females were an American rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey comprising Marissa Paternoster on vocals and guitar, Jarrett Dougherty on drums, and Mike Abbate on bass. They released their debut album ''Baby Teeth (Screaming Females album), Baby Teeth'' in 2006. The band were featured on NPR, Last Call with Carson Daly, and MTV. They played with bands such as Garbage (band), Garbage, Throwing Muses, Dinosaur Jr., The Dead Weather, Arctic Monkeys, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists and The Breeders. History Formation Paternoster and Abbate formed a band in high school under the name Surgery On TV. Cover Version
In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Originally, it referred to a version of a song released around the same time as the original in order to compete with it. Now, it refers to any subsequent version performed after the original. Blade Runner
''Blade Runner'' is a 1982 science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples. Steve Marker
Steven W. Marker (born March 16, 1959) is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the co–founder and guitarist of the alternative rock band Garbage. Previously an audio engineer for the band Fire Town with future Garbage members Duke Erikson and Butch Vig, Marker was responsible for the sourcing of lead singer Shirley Manson for Garbage, following the music video for " Suffocate Me" from Manson's band Angelfish being broadcast during an episode of MTV's ''120 Minutes''. Impressed, Marker, Vig and Erikson contacted Manson in Scotland, advocating for her to travel to the United States to lay down vocals for, what was at that time, one track. Manson would later provide all vocals for the bands breakthrough debut album ''Garbage'' (1995). Paul Cashmere is an Australian entrepreneur, broadcaster, music journalist and media executive. In 1995 he founded the digital music CD-ROM magazine, ''Undercover'', with Australian photographer and domestic partner, Ros O'Gorman (1960–2018). In September 2011 the pair founded the Noise Network including ''Noise11.com.'' As of September 2011 Cashmere was CEO and executive producer of the Noise Network. Biography Paul Cashmere began as a radio broadcaster in the late 1970s. He started at 2AD, Armidale (1977), then Nowra-based 2ST (1978 to 1981), EON-FM (1981-1983) and Fox FM (1983-1984). Not Your Kind Of People World Tour
The Not Your Kind of People Tour is the fifth world concert tour cycle by American alternative rock group Garbage. The tour launched May 2012 in Los Angeles, United States and included headline performances and festival appearances throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The tour also routed South America and several festivals in Australia during 2013. The tour marks the first Garbage concerts since 2007; and the first tour since the Bleed Like Me tour was ended in October 2005. "Thinking about going back on the road is both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure", lead singer Shirley Manson stated in a press release for the launch of the album and tour; "…but we’ve always enjoyed a little pain mixed in with our pleasure." ''Not Your Kind of People'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band Garbage. It was released on May 11, 2012, through the band's own record label, Stunvolume. The album marks the return of the band after a seven-year hiatus that started with previous album '' Bleed Like Me''. Guitarist Duke Erikson said at the launch of the record that "working with Garbage again was very instinctual. Like getting on a bicycle...with three other people." The band emphasized that they did not want to reinvent themselves, but embrace their sonic identity, reflecting their classic sound whilst updating it for 2012. Although Shirley Manson's morose dispositions have a presence on the record, many of the songs share a more optimistic outlook on life, influenced by some of Manson's personal experiences during their hiatus. Founded in June 2001, the site is based in London, England. History Gigwise was launched in 2001 in Liverpool as a gig listings site. ''Diploid Love'' is the debut solo album Brody Dalle, frontwoman of the Distillers. The digital download was released on 28 April 2014 in the United States and 29 April in Canada, followed by the CD and vinyl record set on 19 May. The lead single, "Meet the Foetus/Oh the Joy", was streamed for free on SoundCloud on 9 February before being released to iTunes on 17 February. The album features collaborations from Garbage's Shirley Manson, The Strokes' Nick Valensi, Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age and Emily Kokal of Warpaint.
