Girl's Junior PGA Championship
The Junior PGA Championship is a leading annual junior golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers under the age of 18. Format The tournament has been played since 1976 and is the flagship junior tournament of the PGA of America. The field consists of 156 girls and 156 boys. Half qualify through their PGA Section and the remainder of the field is based on national junior/amateur events and special exemptions. History Several tournament winners have later gone on to success on the PGA Tour, such as Trevor Immelman, David Toms and Sam Burns. Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods have finished runner-up. LPGA Tour major winners Jenny Lidback, Grace Park, Inbee Park and Cristie Kerr have all won the event. The Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA of America) is an American organization of golf professionals that was founded in 1916. Cristie Kerr (born October 12, 1977) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. She has 20 wins on the LPGA Tour, including two major championships, and over $19 million in career earnings. Kerr was the number one-ranked golfer in the Women's World Golf Rankings for three time periods in 2010. She is naturally left handed but plays golf right handed. Amateur career Kerr was born in Miami, Florida, and started playing golf at the age of eight. Lev Grinberg (born 17 November 2007) is a Ukrainian amateur golfer. In 2022, he made the cut in a European Tour event at only 14 years old, and in 2023 he helped Europe win the Jacques Léglise Trophy and Junior Ryder Cup. Vicki Goetze-Ackerman (born October 17, 1972) is an American professional golfer. Goetze was born in Mishicot, Wisconsin. Living in Hull, Georgia, she was voted "Player of the Year" from 1988 to 1990 by the American Junior Golf Association. Beth Bauer Grace (born March 15, 1980) is an American former professional golfer. Bauer was born in Largo, Florida. As an amateur, she won the 1997 U.S. Girls' Junior and in 1998 and 1999 she earned back-to-back victories at the North and South Women's Amateur at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
