Giles Brugge, 6th Baron Chandos
Giles Brugge or Brydges (c. 1462 – 1 December 1511) was an English courtier and soldier. Career He was born in Coberley, Gloucester, England. The son of Thomas Brugge, 5th Baron Chandos, and Florence Darrell. Giles took part in the Battle of Blackheath on 22 June 1497 from which he was knighted for valour. He married Isabel Baynham, daughter of Thomas Baynham and Alice Walwyn. He held the office of High Sheriff of Gloucestershire for 1499. Giles Brydges, 3rd Baron Chandos
Giles Brydges, 3rd Baron Chandos of Sudeley (c. 1548 – 21 February 1594) was an English courtier in the reign of Elizabeth I. Life He was born at Sudeley Manor, Gloucestershire, the son of Edmund Brydges, 2nd Baron Chandos and his wife Hon. Dorothy Bray. Brydges was member of parliament for Cricklade in 1571 and for Gloucestershire from 1572 to 1573. He succeeded his father as 3rd Baron Chandos of Sudeley on 11 March 1573 and held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire in 1586. He entertained Queen Elizabeth at Sudeley Castle in 1592.Cokayne, and others, ''The Complete Peerage'', volume III, page 126-7. Chandos died on 21 February 1594 without male issue and was therefore succeeded by his brother William who became the fourth Baron Chandos of Sudeley. He is buried in the Chapel of St. Mary at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, England. Sir Giles Brydges, 1st Baronet
Sir Giles Brydges, 1st Baronet (1573 – August 1637) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1621 and 1629. Brydges was the son of the Hon. Charles Brydges of Wilton Castle, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, younger son of John Brydges, 1st Baron Chandos, and his wife Jane, daughter of Sir Edward Carne. He matriculated at St Alban Hall, Oxford on 27 Nov 1590 aged 17. He was created a baronet on 17 May 1627. In 1621, Brydges was elected Member of Parliament for Tewkesbury. In 1625 he was High Sheriff of Herefordshire. He was elected MP for Herefordshire in 1625 and 1628, and sat until 1629 when King Charles decided to rule without parliament for eleven years. On 16 January 1620 Brydges married Mary Scudamore, daughter of Sir James Scudamore MP of Holme Lacy, Hereford.
