Gil Cohen (artist)
Gil Cohen (born July 28, 1931 in Philadelphia) is an American artist, noted for his illustrations of aircraft and people in military service, who also illustrated men's magazines, books and movie posters. Biography Gilbert B. Cohen was born to Philip and Hannah (née Borofsky) Cohen on July 28, 1931 and raised in Philadelphia where his Russian-immigrant grandparents and father operated a hardware store. He trained as an illustrator at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, where he studied under artists Karl Sherman, Henry C. Pitz, Albert Gold, Joe Krush and S. Gertrude Schell, and then graduated in 1953. Soon thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and assigned to a military intelligence unit in Germany where he rendered images of Soviet weaponry, based on verbal espionage reports. Gil Cohen ( he, גיל כהן; born 8 November, 2000) is an Israeli professional football player who plays as a center-back or as either full-back for Israeli Premier League club MS Ashdod, and captains the Israel national under-21 team. Early life Cohen was born and raised in Ashdod, Israel, to an Israeli family of Sephardi Jewish descent. Gil Cohen ( he, גיל כהן) (born July 7, 1992) is an Israeli Olympic sports sailor. She competed in sailing in the Women's 470 with Vered Buskila in the 2012 Summer Olympics, and in the same event with Nina Amir in the 2016 Summer Olympics. Early life Cohen is Jewish, and was born and raised in Haifa, Israel. She studied there at the Hebrew Reali School. Sailing career Early years Cohen's sailing club is Hapoel Tel Aviv, and her coach since 2008 has been Ilan Tashtach. Cohen started sailing at a young age, and was the Israeli national champion on the Optimist in 2005 and 2006, as well as in the 420 discipline in 2007 and 2008. 2008–12 In the 2008 Sailing World Championships she won a silver medal in the 420 discipline. After changing to the 470 discipline, she won a silver medal a year later, with Dana Mamriev at the 470 Junior World Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece.
