Ghulam (other)
Ghulam (, ) is an Arabic word meaning ''servant'', ''assistant'', ''boy'', or ''youth''. It is used to describe young servants in Jannah. It is also used to refer to slave-soldiers in the Abbasid, Ottoman, Safavid and to a lesser extent, Mughal empires, though more commonly with the word '' Ghilman'', which is the plural form of ''ghulam''. It is traditionally used as the first element of compounded Muslim male given names, meaning ''servant of ...'', mostly in Persian (where it is pronounced ) and in Urdu. In both Persian and Urdu, the particle '' al-'' is not used with ''ghulam'' (unlike compounds formed with '' ʿabd''; e.g. ''Gholammohammad'', ''Gholamhoseyn'', ''Gholamali''... and ''Abd al-Muhammad'', ''Abd al-Husayn'', ''Abd al-Ali''...). Golam Yazdani
Dr. Golam Yazdani (1917–2009) was a controversial Bengali politician, six-time MLA, three-time MP and cabinet minister in West Bengal. He was in jail for around three years and went underground for twenty months. Early years Dr. Golam Yazdani, son of Moulvi Raisuddin Ahmed, was born at Barogachi in Malda district in January 1917. Ghulam Yazdani, OBE (22 March 1885 – 13 November 1962) was an Indian archaeologist who was one of the founders of the Archaeological Department during the colonial era reign of Nizam of Hyderabad. He also edited the Arabic and Persian Supplement of ''Epigraphia Indica'' from 1913 to 1940. He was instrumental in surveying and documenting Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu and Jain sites in the Hyderabad state, including major mosques in the region, the caves at Ajanta, Ellora caves, Alampur group of temples, Ramappa Temple, Bidar fort, and Daulatabad Fort, among many others. Ghulam Arieff Tipoo ( bn, গোলাম আরিফ টিপু; 28 August 1931 – 15 March 2024) was a Bangladeshi jurist, independence activist, and language movement activist. He was the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, a domestic war crimes tribunal in Bangladesh set up to investigate and prosecute suspects for the genocide committed during the Bangladesh Liberation War.
