''Getting the Holy Ghost Across'' is the eighth studio album by English musician Bill Nelson. The album was self-produced and released on 7 April 1986. The album marked a return to a major label, this time Portrait Records. It reached no. 91 in the UK albums chart. The album was released in the US as ''On a Blue Wing'' in August 1986. Release The record label for the album, Portrait Records, believed that the Christian themes of the title and cover art would upset American audiences enough to affect sales. Ultimately in the US, the album was renamed to ''On a Blue Wing'', the cover was changed, and the track listing was resequenced. In a 1989 interview with the magazine ''Musician'', Nelson's reflected upon his disappointment with the label's decision, saying "It was, in a sense, an immoral judgment because they are saying, 'We'd rather have money than present your true ideas to people. Bill Nelson (musician)
William Nelson (born 18 December 1948) is an English singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer, painter, video artist, writer and experimental musician. He rose to prominence as the chief songwriter, vocalist and guitarist of the rock group Be-Bop Deluxe, which he formed in 1972. Nelson has been described as "one of the most underrated guitarists of the seventies art rock movement". In 2015, he was recognised with the Visionary award at the Progressive Music Awards. Personal life Nelson was born in Wakefield in the West Riding of Yorkshire, to Jean and Walter Nelson. His father was an alto saxophone player, and his mother a dancer. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. Clarence William Nelson II (born September 29, 1942) is an American politician, attorney, and former astronaut who served from 2001 to 2019 as a United States senator from Florida and from 2021 to 2025 as the administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The Official Albums Chart is the United Kingdom's industry-recognised national record chart for album, albums. Entries are ranked by sales and audio streaming. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on ''UKChartsPlus'' as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. He is best known as the lead keyboardist, producer, and composer of the electronic music duo Goldfrapp. Early life Gregory was born in Bristol, the son of an actress and an opera chorus-line singer. Richard Edwin Morrissey (9 May 1940 – 8 November 2000) was a British jazz musician and composer. He played the tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone and flute. Biography Background He was born in Horley, Surrey, England. Dick Morrissey emerged in the early 1960s in the wake of Tubby Hayes, Britain’s pre-eminent sax player at the time. Preston Heyman is a British record producer, drummer and percussionist. He is credited on the Kate Bush album '' Never for Ever''. Ian Walter Nelson (23 April 1956, Wakefield, Yorkshire, England – 23 April 2006) was an English new wave musician, and younger brother of Be-Bop Deluxe singer and guitarist Bill Nelson, whom he accompanied in different musical projects. He played mainly the saxophone. Biography He was more than seven years younger than his brother , who was present at the time of his birth, on 23 April 1956. Walter, who was a saxophonist, taught him to play saxophone, which would later be Ian's principal instrument. His first participation was on the Be-Bop Deluxe song from the album (1976).
