Gerald Sidney Davis (born February 22, 1953) is an American former umpire (baseball), umpire in Major League Baseball. He worked in the National League (baseball), National League from 1982 to 1999 and in Major League Baseball from 2000 to 2021. He was promoted to crew chief in 1999. Davis worked a total of 151 post season games,the most in MLB history. He umpired six World Series, eleven League Championship Series and thirteen League Division Series. He also worked in the All-Star Game four times.Davis was chosen to work a Special Event in an All Time record 24 consecutive seasons. He wore uniform number 12 throughout his career. Umpiring career Davis began umpiring in the minor leagues in 1976. Gerald Edward Davis (born December 25, 1958) is an American former Major League Baseball player and outfielder who appeared in 49 games over parts of two seasons, and , for the San Diego Padres. He threw and batted right-handed and was listed as tall and . Amateur career A native of Trenton, New Jersey, Davis graduated from Ewing High School and Howard University. In 1978, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League and was named a league all-star. He was drafted by the Padres in the sixth round of the 1980 Major League Baseball draft. Professional career Davis' professional career extended for six seasons (1980–1985 and 1987), and included strong showings in levels ranging from Class A to Triple-A. He was selected an All-Star in the Carolina League (1981) and Pacific Coast League (1983). Gerald Davis (23 February 1930 – 31 August 1991) was a British television writer, best known for his contributions to the science-fiction genre. He also wrote for the soap operas ''Coronation Street'' and ''United!''. Career ''Doctor Who'' From 1966 until the following year, Davis was the story editor of the BBC science-fiction series ''Doctor Who'', for which he created the character Jamie McCrimmon and co-created the popular cybernetic monsters known as the Cybermen, who continue to make appearances in the show, having been revived in the new run. His fellow co-creator of these creatures was the programme's unofficial scientific adviser, Dr. Kit Pedler. Jeremiah Davis
Jeremiah Davis (June 12, 1826 – September 22, 1910) was an American pioneer, politician, and farmer from New York. He achieved significant wealth in the California Gold Rush and invested his money in a large tract of land in Ogle County, Illinois. The town of Davis Junction there was named in his honor. Davis also served a term in the Illinois House of Representatives. Biography Davis was born in Hornellsville, New York on June 12, 1826. He moved with his parents to Milton, Wisconsin, attending the public schools. Upon graduating, he purchased an farm, which he cultivated until 1850. He participated in the California Gold Rush and became wealthy after discovering a gold vein near Georgetown, California. He returned to Milton after a year, again maintaining his farm.
