Germán Torres
Germán Torres (born May 28, 1957) is a Mexican former world boxing champion. His nickname was ''Ozeki''. Torres was born in Celaya, Guanajuato. Pro career Torres turned pro in 1975 at the age of fifteen, and won the vacant WBC light flyweight title in his fifth attempt, with a decision win over Soon-Jung Kang in 1988. He had lost decisions to Hilario Zapata and Jung-Koo Chang (three times). He lost the title in his first defense to Yul-Woo Lee in 1989 by TKO. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. The World Boxing Council (WBC) decided to resurrect this division in the 1970s. The first champion in this division was Franco Udella, who won the WBC title in 1975. Chang Jung-koo
Chang Jung-Koo (, born February 4, 1963) is a South Korean former professional boxer whoe competed from 1980 to 1991. He held the WBC light-flyweight title from 1983 to 1988. Professional career Chang took the tough road to becoming a world champion. In Chang's 15th pro fight, he faced former WBA flyweight champion Alfonso Lopez. Chang knocked out Lopez in the 3rd round. Next, Chang faced future IBF flyweight champion Jong-Kwan Chung, stopping Chung in the 6th round. In his 18th fight, and last before challenging for his first world title, Chang scored a 10-round unanimous decision over former WBC light-flyweight champion Amado Ursua. In Chang's first world title try, he lost to Hilario Zapata of Panama by a 15-round split decision in 1982, by scores of 148–145, 142-144 and 144–147. Lee Yul-woo
Yul-Woo Lee (January 25, 1967 – December 10, 2009) was a South Korean former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 1990. He was a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBC light-flyweight title in 1989 and the WBA flyweight title in 1990. Professional career Lee turned pro in 1985 and captured the WBC light flyweight title with a TKO win over German Torres in 1989. He lost his belt in his first defense to Humberto González. He then moved up in weight and won a split decision over WBA flyweight title holder Jesus Kiki Rojas in 1990, but lost the belt in his first defense again to Leopard Tamakuma by TKO. The WBC is one of the four major governing bodies in professional boxing, and certifies world champions in 18 different weight classes. Celaya
Celaya (; ) is a city and its surrounding municipality in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, located in the southeast quadrant of the state. It is the third most populous city in the state, with a 2005 census population of 310,413. The municipality for which the city serves as municipal seat, had a population of 415,869.
