German Rescue Swimming Badge
The German rescue swimming badge (German: ''Deutsches Rettungsschwimmabzeichen'') is awarded by the Wasserwacht of the German Red Cross and the DLRG for proficiency in rescue swimming skills. The German rescue swimming badge is awarded in bronze, silver, and in gold. The awards is available as a cloth patch, as a metal badge, or as a ribbon. The rescue swimming badges in silver and gold are permitted to be worn on uniforms of the Bundeswehr, the German Police and various rescue services as a ribbon. It is also an entry-requirement for some German Police agencies. History In 1913 the DLRG offered its first rescue swimming classes. Wasserwacht
The Wasserwacht (; ''water watch'' or ''water guard'') is a German lifeguard service. It is one of the five voluntary societies of the German Red Cross. The Wasserwacht is a non-profit organization made up of on volunteers. Tasks The main task of the Wasserwacht is the prevention of drowning. The Wasserwacht's activities encompass many areas, including: Swimming (Schwimmen) A task of the Wasserwacht is the training of nonswimmers and the continuation of swimming education among the population. Badges are awarded based on the level of education, and begin with the "Seepferdchen" (literally ''seahorse''; the early certificate) up to the Gold German Swimming Badge. DLRG
The German Life Saving Association (german: Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft or DLRG) is a relief organization for life saving in Germany. The DLRG is the largest voluntary lifesaving organization in the world. With around 560,000 members, organised in approximately 2,100 local groups, the DLRG is the largest voluntary water rescue organization in the world. Law Enforcement In Germany
Law enforcement in Germany is constitutionally vested solely with the states, which is one of the main features of the German political system. Policing has always been a responsibility of the German states even after 1871 when the country was unified. The 1919 constitution of the Weimar Republic did provide for the possibility of creating a national police force, should the necessity arise, but it was only in the Nazi era that state police forces were unified under central control and a national police force created (the Reich Security Main Office—''Reichssicherheitshauptamt'', or RSHA). The German Sports Badge (German: ''Deutsches Sportabzeichen'' (DSA)) is a decoration of the German Olympic Sports Federation DOSB. The German Sports Badge test is carried out primarily in Germany, and in other countries abroad. History The German Sports Badge, also known as the "German National Sports Badge" was first created in the year 1913 and is one of the oldest awards of Germany still in active circulation. At first the German Sports Badge was only issued to men for the completion of various physical tests. In 1921 it was renamed to ''Deutsches Turn- und Sportabzeichen'' and women were eligible as well. In Nazi Germany the design of the badge remained basically the same but a swastika was added at its base. Since 1935, the letters "DRL" ("Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesübungen") replaced the letters "DRA" ("Deutscher Reichsausschuss für Leibesübungen").
