Georgia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Georgia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, having internally selected Circus Mircus to represent the country with the song "Lock Me In". Georgia failed to qualify, performing in the second semifinal. Georgia was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2022. Performing during the show in position 5, "Lock Me In" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. It was later revealed that Georgia placed last out of the 18 participating countries in the semi-final with 22 points. Circus Mircus
Circus Mircus ( ka, ცირკუს მირკუსი) are a Georgian progressive rock band. The band mostly plays experimental music, mixing numerous genres, each representing a life experience and the "inner world" of each member. They represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song " Lock Me In", placing 18th in the second semi-final, failing to qualify for the final. Circus Mircus consists of four members, who use pseudonyms. Georgia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times, debuting at the 2007 contest. Georgia planned to participate in 2009, but decided to withdraw after the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) demanded it to re-write its song which made reference to the then-Russian prime minister, Vladimir Putin. Ukraine participated in and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song " Stefania" performed by the group Kalush Orchestra. The Ukrainian broadcaster Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC) organised a national final in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2022 contest. Georgian Public Broadcaster ( ka, საქართველოს საზოგადოებრივი მაუწყებელი, ) is the national public broadcaster of Georgia. İctimai Television ( , “Public Television”), or İTV, is a public television channel in Azerbaijan. It officially began broadcasting on 29 August 2005 after being created by law in the beginning of 2004, as the first independent public broadcaster in Azerbaijan. The channel is based in Baku. Helen Kalandadze ( ka, ელენე კალანდაძე) is a Georgian television presenter and singer. She co-hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Tbilisi alongside Lizi Pop.
