Georgia Association Of Educators
The Georgia Association of Educators is a 501(c)(6) non-profit professional association and advocacy group of public school educators in Georgia. It was established in 1970 when the Georgia Teachers and Education Association, which was black-only at the time (established in 1933 by Joseph Winthrop Holley), merged with the all-white Georgia Education Association. It is a state affiliate of the National Education Association. Its members include teachers, school administrators, and professionals working in other roles in Georgia public schools. As of 2018, the organization had about 30,000 members. Katie Rinderle
Katie Rinderle is an American former elementary school teacher in Cobb County, Georgia. She is the first known public school teacher fired under Georgia's 2022 student protection laws for choosing a controversial book to read to the students of the gifted program of her school. The Protect the Students' Rights Act (or "divisive concepts" law), the Parents' Bill of Rights, and the Harmful to Minors Law. Particularly, the school district argues she violated the Divisive Concepts Law (House Bill 1084). Joseph Winthrop Holley (1874 – 1958) was a 19th-century American educator and author.
