George Landen Dann
George Landen Dann (1 January 1904 – 6 June 1977) was an Australian playwright, writer, and draftsman. He is best known for a number of award-winning and critically acclaimed plays such as ''In Beauty It Is Finished'', ''Fountains Beyond'', ''Caroline Chisholm'' and ''The Orange Grove''. Dann wrote dozens of published and unpublished plays over the course of his lifetime. Originally writing plays for the amateur dramatic society at Sandgate, Queensland, Dann was a particularly shy and reclusive person, and even though he wrote part-time, his more popular plays were widely performed by amateur theatre companies around Australia. Peter Beattie
Peter Douglas Beattie (born 18 November 1952) is an Australian former politician who served as the 36th Premier of Queensland, in office from 1998 to 2007. He was the state leader of the Labor Party from 1996 to 2007. Beattie was born in Sydney but grew up in Atherton, Queensland. He worked as a lawyer, union secretary and ALP State Secretary before entering politics. Beattie was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly at the 1989 state election. He served as a Health Minister from 1995 to 1996 under Wayne Goss, and then replaced Goss as party leader following a change in government. As leader of the opposition, Beattie led the Labor Party back to power at the 1998 election, and won further victories at the 2001, 2004 and 2006 elections. ''Fountains Beyond'' is a 1942 Australian stage play by George Landen Dann. It is his best known work. It was a rare play at the time to address the issues of Aboriginal Australians. In 1942 Leslie Rees called it Dann's "best work so far." The play was adapted for radio in 1942, 1954 and 1957. It was published in book form in 1944. The play was revived in 2000. Eumundi is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. Eumundi is very popular on the coast for its bi-weekly farmers' markets.
