George Jackson (31 December 1856 – 12 February 1938) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Jackson was born in Manchester, England, the son of James Jackson and his wife Hannah (née Hilton). He married Mary Hannah Welch at Charters Towers in 1878. George Edward Jackson is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Brookside'', played by Cliff Howells. George Holbrook Jackson (31 December 1874 – 16 June 1948) was a British journalist, writer and publisher. He was recognised as one of the leading bibliophiles of his time. Biography Holbrook Jackson was born in Liverpool, England. He worked as a clerk, while freelancing as a writer. Around 1900 he was in the lace trade in Leeds, where he met A. R. Orage; together they founded the Leeds Arts Club. At that time Jackson was a Fabian socialist, but also influenced by Nietzsche. It was Jackson who introduced Orage to Nietzsche, lending him a copy of ''Thus Spoke Zarathustra'' in 1900. Later they separately moved to London as journalists. In 1906, shortly after arriving in the capital, Jackson suggested founding a similar group to the Leeds Arts Club, the Fabian Arts Group. George Pullen Jackson
George Pullen Jackson (1874–1953) was an American educator and musicologist. He was a pioneer in the field of Southern (U.S.) hymnody. He was responsible for popularizing the term "white spirituals" to describe "fasola" singing. Early life George Pullen Jackson was born in 1874 in Monson, Maine. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1902. While in college, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He received a Bachelor of Philosophy in 1904 and a PhD in 1911 from the University of Chicago. Career Jackson was an Assistant Professor of German at the University of South Dakota in the 1910s. By the 1930s, he had joined the faculty at his alma mater, Vanderbilt University. Major-General George Hanbury Noble Jackson (20 December 1876 – 4 September 1958) was a British Army officer. Military career Educated at Neuenhein College, Heidelberg and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Jackson was commissioned into the Border Regiment on 20 February 1897. He served as adjutant of the Imperial Light Infantry in South Africa during the Second Boer War, and took part in the expedition to relieve Ladysmith seeing action at the Battle of Spion Kop in January 1900 and at the Battle of the Tugela Heights in February 1900. George Jackson (1780–1811) was an English botanist and author. He was born in Aberdeen in 1780 and was later in charge of A.B. Lambert's herbarium.
