Absentee Shawnee Tribe Of Indians
The Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma (or Absentee Shawnee) is one of three federally recognized tribes of Shawnee people. Historically residing in what became organized as the upper part of the Eastern United States, the original Shawnee lived in the large territory now made up of Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and neighboring states. In total, they occupied and traveled through lands ranging from Canada to Florida, and from the Mississippi River to the eastern continental coast. After Indian Removal, most of the people settled in Indian Territory (now the state of Oklahoma). In contemporary times, the Absentee Shawnee Tribe reorganized their government in 1936 and became federally recognized; their headquarters is in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Their tribal jurisdiction area includes land in Oklahoma in both Cleveland and Pottawatomie counties. George Washington Blanchard
George Washington Blanchard (January 26, 1884October 2, 1964) was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1933 to 1935. He was a Republican. He represented Wisconsin's 1st congressional district in the 73rd United States Congress. He was elected in the election of 1932 receiving 48.5% of the vote. Biography Born in Colby, Wisconsin, Blanchard graduated from the Colby High School and then received his bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He then practiced law in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1925 and the Wisconsin State Senate in 1927. He died in Edgerton on October 2, 1964. Georges Maurice Jean Blanchard
Georges Blanchard (1877–1954) was a French military officer. He served in the French Army in World War I on the Western Front. In World War II, he was a general, commanding the French First Army, which advanced into Belgium during the Battle of Belgium. Military career World War I: 1914–1918 During World War I, he served on the Western Front against the Germans. Interwar period: 1918–1939 From 1927 to 1930 Blanchard was the deputy chief of staff for the French Army of the Rhine. From 1930 to 1932 Blanchard was chief of staff to General Adolphe Guillaumat. In 1932 he was promoted to general, and commanded the artillery of the 2nd Military Region. From 1935 to 1938 Blanchard was commanding general of the 7th Military Region.
