George's Dock Luas Stop
George's Dock ( ga, Duga Sheoirse) is a stop on the Luas light-rail tram system in Dublin, Ireland. It opened in 2009 as one of four stops on an extension of the Red Line through the docklands to The Point, opposite the main part of Dublin Port. It is located in the middle of George's Dock, a road whose two lanes are shared by cars and trams. The two edge platforms are integrated into the surrounding pavement. To the east of the stop, trams continue along George's Dock and Mayor Street to the Point. Dublin
Dublin (; , or ) is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Red Line (Luas)
The Red Line () is one of the two lines of Dublin's Luas light rail system. The Red Line runs in an east–west direction through the city centre, north of the River Liffey, before travelling southwest to Tallaght, with a fork to Citywest and Saggart. The Red Line opened on 26 September 2004. History Construction work began in March 2001 on the Tallaght to Connolly line, as well as the Sandyford to St. Stephen's Green section of the second line, with Ansaldo of Italy and MVM of Australia getting the contract to build the system. Luas
Luas (pronounced ; Irish for "speed") is a tram/ light rail system in Dublin, Ireland. There are two main lines: the Green Line, which began operating on 30 June 2004, and the Red Line which opened on 26 September 2004. Since then, both lines have been extended and split into different branches further out of the city. The two lines, as of 2017, now intersect and connect within Dublin city centre. The system now has 67 stations and of revenue track, which in 2018 carried 41.8 million passengers, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2017. Luas is operated by Transdev, under tender from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). Busáras (; from ''bus'' + '' áras'' "building") is the central bus station in Dublin, Ireland for Intercity and regional bus services operated by Bus Éireann. Designed in the International Modern style, Busáras is also a stop on the Red Line of the Luas system, in Store Street just before the terminus at Dublin Connolly railway station. Tallaght Luas Stop
Tallaght (; ga, Tamhlacht) is a stop on the Luas light-rail tram system in Dublin, Ireland. It opened in 2004 as the terminus of the Red Line. The stop is located on a section of reserved track at the side of the road the populous suburb of Tallaght, opposite The Square Shopping Centre. It also provides access to Tallaght Stadium, the offices of South Dublin County Council, and the local campus of the Technological University Dublin. The stop has two edge platforms, and trams reverse using a double crossover immediately beyond the stop. Thus, one platform is used for arrivals and one for departures. Upon leaving Tallaght, trams travel along their own right of way, rounding a corner where the tracks are straddled by buildings. They then head north on their way to Connolly or The Point. Saggart Luas Stop
Saggart ( ga, Teach Sagard) is a stop on the Luas light-rail tram system in Dublin, Ireland. It opened in 2011 as the terminus of an extension of the Red Line. The stop is located on a section of reserved track next to Citywest Drive near Saggart village in south-west Dublin. It is also close to Whitechurch and Baldonnel. To the north of the stop, a large area has been set aside for a development called Parklands, which is planned to include over 150 houses, two new schools, retail and a large sports area. As of 2020, development has begun onsite. Saggart has a similar layout to Tallaght Luas stop: there are two edge platforms, beyond which the track continues for around 80m where there is a double crossover. The Point Luas Stop
The Point ( ga, Iosta na Rinne) is a stop on the Luas light-rail tram system in Dublin, Ireland. It opened in 2009 as the terminus of an extension of the Red Line. Named after the nearby Point Depot, it serves the surrounding Point Village area and is situated in the middle of a plaza at the end of Mayor Street Upper, near Point Square, Host Point Student accommodation, and the 3Arena. The stop has three platforms. This allows up to three trams to dwell there during events at the 3Arena, in order to prepare for the influx of passengers leaving the venue at the end of the event. On average, trams depart every 10 minutes towards the city centre and Tallaght or Saggart. Dublin Docklands ( ga, Ceantar Dugaí Átha Cliath) is an area of the city of Dublin, Ireland, on both sides of the River Liffey, roughly from Talbot Memorial Bridge eastwards to the 3Arena. Dublin Port ( ga, Calafort Átha Cliath) is the seaport of Dublin, Ireland, of both historical and contemporary economic importance. Approximatively two-thirds of Ireland's port traffic travels via the port, which is by far the busiest on the island of Ireland. Location The modern Dublin Port is located either side of the River Liffey, out to its mouth. On the north side of the river, the main part () of the port lies at the end of East Wall and North Wall, from Alexandra Quay. The element of the port on the south side of the river is much smaller () and lies at the beginning of the Poolbeg peninsula. Connolly station ( ga, Stáisiún Uí Chonghaile) or Dublin Connolly is one of the busiest railway stations in Dublin and Ireland, and is a focal point in the Irish route network.
