Geoffrey Lewis Blake (born August 20, 1962) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Wesley (the abusive radical boyfriend) opposite Robin Wright's Jenny in ''Forrest Gump'' (1994). Blake has appeared alongside Tom Hanks in multiple films. He is most known for the role of the preppy pipe-smoking astrophysicist Fisher in the 1997 film '' Contact'' opposite Jodie Foster. Early life Blake was born on August 20, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Marjorie Myers (née Lewis) and Avery Felton Blake. Vice Admiral Sir Geoffrey Blake, (16 September 1882 – 18 July 1968) was an officer in the Royal Navy who served as Fourth Sea Lord from 1932 to 1935. Naval career Blake was born at Alverstoke in Hampshire, the son of Thomas Blake and Fanny Leatry. As a boy, he attended Winchester College before entering the Royal Navy in 1897. He served in the First World War and at the Battle of Jutland, as gunnery commander aboard . In 1919, Blake was appointed naval attaché in Washington D. C., a position he held until 1921. He was then given command of , became Deputy Director of the Royal Navy Staff College in 1925 and was appointed director of the college in 1926. Jeffrey Bertrand Coleman Blake (born December 4, 1970) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the East Carolina Pirates. Blake was a member of seven teams during his NFL career, playing his longest stint with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1994 to 1999. Prior to his five seasons in Cincinnati, he spent his first two seasons with the New York Jets, who selected him in the sixth round of the 1992 NFL draft. He spent the second half of his career playing for the New Orleans Saints from 2000 to 2001 and one season each with the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, and Chicago Bears.
