Gentleman's Dub Club
Gentleman's Dub Club are a British Dub music, dub band, originating from Leeds, Yorkshire. Biography Having built a reputation for delivering energetic live shows, the group has played for crowds from Goa to Glastonbury Festival, Glastonbury, Bestival, V Festival, Secret Garden Party, France's Telerama Dub Festival, Poland's Ostróda Reggae Festival, and Croatia's Outlook Festival. Their records remain within the top 40 of the iTunes store album reggae charts since release, hailing support from some of the UK's most prominent underground representatives including Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1), David Rodigan (BBC Radio 1Xtra), and Don Letts (BBC Radio 6 Music). Gentleman's Dub Club have supported a number of established artists such as Roots Manuva, The Streets, The Wailers, Busy Signal, U-Roy, and Finlay Quaye. Huw Stephens
Huw Meredydd Stephens (born 25 May 1981) is a Welsh radio and television presenter, currently broadcasting on BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio 6 Music. Stephens founded the Sŵn music festival with John Rostron and the yearly showcase Welsh Language Music Day. Stephens produced the 2018 documentary film ''Anorac'' about the Welsh language music scene. He presented the ''Cofiwch Dryweryn'' documentary for S4C, following the history of the graffiti that his father painted in 1963, and ''The Story of Welsh Art'', a 3-part documentary series for the BBC. He also presented ''Cymru Rising'' on BBC Radio 4, documenting the Welsh language music scene. Falmouth, Cornwall
Falmouth ( ; ) is a town, civil parish and port on the River Fal on the south coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Finlay Quaye
Finley Quaye (born 25 March 1974, Edinburgh, Scotland) is a Scottish musician. He won the 1997 Mobo Award for best reggae act, and the 1998 BRIT Awards, BRIT Award for Best Male Solo Artist. His debut album, ''Maverick a Strike,'' a fusion of many styles including reggae and soul, was a commercial success and was certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. A busy signal (or busy tone or engaged tone) in telephony is an audible call-progress tone or audible signal to the calling party that indicates failure to complete the requested connection of that particular telephone call. The Wailers
Bob Marley and the Wailers (previously known as the Wailers and prior to that the Wailing Rudeboys, the Wailing Wailers and the Teenagers) were a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae band. The founding members, in 1963, were Bob Marley (Robert Nesta Marley), Peter Tosh (Winston Hubert McIntosh), and Bunny Wailer (Neville Livingston). During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry. Before signing to Island Records in 1972, the band released four albums. Two additional albums were produced before Tosh and Wailer departed from the band in 1974, citing dissatisfaction with their treatment by the label and ideological disagreements. Marley continued with a new lineup, which included the I-Threes, and went on to release seven more albums. Marley died from cancer in 1981, at which point the group disbanded. The Streets
The Streets is an English musical project led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner (musician), Mike Skinner. The project was founded in the early 90s, while Skinner was still a teenager; however, no music would formally eventuate until the early 2000s. In the initial run of The Streets, the project released five studio albums: ''Original Pirate Material'' (2002), ''A Grand Don't Come for Free'' (2004), ''The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living'' (2006), ''Everything Is Borrowed'' (2008) and ''Computers and Blues'' (2011). Roots Manuva
Rodney Hylton Smith, better known by his stage name Roots Manuva (born 9 September 1972), is a British rapper and producer. Since his debut in 1994, he has produced numerous albums and singles on the label Big Dada, achieving commercial success with albums ''Run Come Save Me'' and '' Slime & Reason''. He has been described as "one of the most influential artists in British music history." His most recent studio album, '' Bleeds'', was released in October 2015. Don Letts
Donovan Letts (born 10 January 1956) is a British film director, disc jockey (DJ) and musician. Letts first came to prominence as the videographer for the Clash, directing several of their music videos. In 1984, Letts co-founded the band Big Audio Dynamite with former Clash lead guitarist and co-lead vocalist Mick Jones, acting as the band's sampler and videographer before departing the band in 1990. Letts has also directed music videos for Musical Youth, the Psychedelic Furs, Fun Boy Three, the Pretenders and Elvis Costello as well as the feature documentaries '' The Punk Rock Movie'' (1978) and '' The Clash: Westway to the World'' (2000). BBC Radio 1Xtra is a British digital radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It broadcasts Black music and urban music, including hip hop and R&B and is a sister station to Radio 1.
