"Genesis" is the fifteenth studio album by American singer Brian McKnight. It was released by the SoNo Recording Group on August 25, 2017 in the United States. Primarily produced by Tim Kelley, it features the singles "I Want U" and "10 Million Stars" in addition to "Everything" and "Forever" which were first released on his previous release, the live album ''An Evening with Brian McKnight'' (2016). ''Genesis'' debuted at number 15 on the US ''Billboard'' Independent Albums, while reaching number 73 on Top Album Sales chart. Critical reception Andy Kellman from AllMusic found that "on ''Genesis'', McKnight opts to switch it up with modern production stylings ..Overall, this is more rooted in the electronic-oriented R&B tradition of Kashif and company than, say, an attempt to keep up with mid- to late-2010s hitmakers such as DJ Mustard and Metro Boomin." Brian Kelly McKnight (born June 5, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, radio host and multi-instrumentalist. He is most recognized for his strong head voice, high belting range and melisma. McKnight is known for his songs from albums such as '' Brian McKnight'' (platinum debut), ''Anytime'' and '' Back at One''. Dijon Isaiah McFarlane (born June 5, 1990), known professionally as Mustard (also known as DJ Mustard), is an American record producer and beatmaker. He is a frequent collaborator of fellow California-bred artists YG and Ty Dolla Sign; among various other records for the hip hop and R&B genres since his entrance into mainstream music with Tyga's 2011 single, " Rack City". Mustard's production style has been described as an up-tempo, club-oriented, catchy yet rudimentary melodic hip hop style. Kashif Saleem (born Michael Jones; December 26, 1956 – September 25, 2016) was an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, record producer, artist, composer, author, director and educator from New York City. As a teenager, Kashif joined the funk group B. T. Express. He studied Islam and changed his name from Michael Jones to Kashif. He later signed with Arista Records enjoying success as a solo artist.
