Arthur Green (British Army Officer)
Brigadier-General Arthur Frank Umfreville Green (20 August 1878 – 20 April 1964) was a senior British Army officer in World War I and author of several publications. Military career Green was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery on 23 December 1897, and in March 1900 left Southampton on the SS ''Umbria'' to serve in South Africa in the Second Boer War. During World War I he was deployed in Flanders and in Italy. He served as a quartermaster general with the XI Corps and was part of the Inter-Allied Commission at the Spa Conference of 1920. William Henry Rodes Green
Major-General Sir William Henry Rodes Green (31 May 1823 – 9 September 1912) was a British Indian Army officer and colonial official. Green was the son of Vice-Admiral Sir Andrew Pellatt Green. He attended the Addiscombe Military Seminary and King's College, London. He was commissioned into the Scinde Horse of the East India Company. During the Crimean War, Green was seconded to the Ottoman Empire to train Turkish Irregular Cavalry forces. He was promoted to Major in May 1855. For his work in Turkey he was invested as a member of the Order of the Medjidie, in which he was subsequently promoted several times. He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in March 1868, having transferred to the Bombay Staff Corps. On 24 May 1866, he was invested as a Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India in recognition of his service as Political Superintendent in Upper Scinde. Sir William Green, 1st Baronet
General Sir William Green, 1st Baronet, of Marass, Kent (4 April 1725 – 10 January 1811) was an officer in the British Army. After receiving a private education in Aberdeen, Scotland and a military education at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Royal Military Academy in Woolwich, England, he was appointed as a practitioner engineer in 1743. Green served on the European continent until 1752, after which he was in Canada. There, he continued to advance through both the ordinary military and engineering ranks. Following his return to England, Green was named senior engineer for Gibraltar about 1761, and the next year promoted to lieutenant colonel. He was promoted to chief engineer for Gibraltar in 1770, and designed and executed a number of military works on the Rock. Brigadier-General Wilfrith Gerald Key Green (3 November 1872 – 29 May 1937) was a Welsh officer in the British Army and later a brigadier-general in the British Indian Army. In the First World War he served on the Western Front and in the Sinai and Palestine campaign, where he commanded the 10th Cavalry Brigade. Thomas Green (general)
Thomas Green (June 8, 1814 – April 12, 1864) was an American soldier and lawyer, who took part in the Texan Revolution of 1835–36, serving under Sam Houston, who rewarded him with a land grant. Green was clerk of the Texas Supreme Court until the outbreak of the Civil War, when he became a Confederate cavalry leader. After winning several victories, including the Battle of Valverde and the recapture of Galveston, he was promoted brigadier and assigned command of the cavalry division of the Trans-Mississippi Department. In the Red River Campaign, he was mortally wounded while charging a fleet of Federal gunboats. The Union naval commander David Dixon Porter paid tribute to Green as a serious loss to the Confederacy. General Sir Charles Green, 1st Baronet (18 December 1749 – 12 July 1831) was a British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding Northern District. Military career Green was the son of Captain Christopher Green and was commissioned as an ensign in the 31st Regiment of Foot in 1765. He was injured and taken prisoner at the First Battle of Saratoga in September 1777 during the American Revolutionary War. He became commanding officer of the 30th Regiment of Foot in February 1794 and was deployed to Corsica. He went on to be Civil Governor of Grenada in 1796 and then temporary commander of the British troops in the Leeward Islands in 1804. He commanded a force which captured the colony of Suriname later that year.
