The General Confederation of Labour of Luxembourg (, CGT-L) is a trade union federation in Luxembourg. The federation was established in 1927, on the initiative of unions representing railway and metal workers in Luxembourg. By the 1970s, its largest affiliate was the Luxembourg Workers' Union, which attempted to form a single general union for all workers. It became the Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL), but with many unions deciding not to merge into it, the CGT-L remained in existence. The CGT-L operates as a loose umbrella organisation, and shares much of its leadership with the OGBL. The Confederación General de Trabajadores (General Confederation of Workers, CGT) was a federation of labor unions in Mexico. It was founded in February 1921 by anarchists, syndicalists and others on the far left who opposed the more moderate, pro-government Confederación Regional Obrera Mexicana (CROM). In particular, the founders of the CGT criticized the CROM's close relationship with the conservative American Federation of Labor (AFL). Unions split from the CROM, with 43 affiliating with the new CGT, but it was just a tenth the size of the CROM, with strength among textile workers. President Alvaro Obregón (1920-1924) favored the CROM, and his administration attempted to suppress the CGT. The General Confederation of Workers (, CGT) was a union federation in Puerto Rico. The CGT was formed in March 1940 at a congress held in San Juan. The General Confederation of Labour (, , CGT) is a national trade union center, founded in 1895 in the city of Limoges. It is the first of the five major French confederations of trade unions. The General Confederation of Labour (; CGT) was a Portuguese trade union confederation. Established in 1919, as the successor to the National Workers' Union (UON), the CGT was the only national trade union centre in Portugal throughout the early 1920s. The organisation was led largely by anarcho-syndicalists, who declared the CGT to be independent of all political parties and proclaimed its goal to be the abolition of capitalism and the state. Opposed to Bolshevism, it refused to join the Red International of Labour Unions (RILU) and instead joined the International Workers' Association (IWA), which was aligned with anarcho-syndicalism.
