Gauteng Women's Development League
The Gauteng Women's Development League is a regional girls soccer league in Gauteng. The league is run by SAFA Gauteng, and features U/14 and U/16 teams from the Local Football Associations (LFAs) that are under SAFA Gauteng. History The initial season featured 10 teams and was launched on 16 April 2023 with only the U/15 age group available. In 2024, the league added the U/14 league and switch the U/15 age group to U/16. In the 2024 season opener for the U/16 division, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies U/16 scored a record 14 goals in a 14-1 in over West Youth Academy. In the U/14 division, the first matches were played on 24 March 2024 which saw 30 goals being scored by in the season opener. Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Academy won both the U/14 and U/16 girls leagues undefeated in 2024. Gauteng ( ) is one of the nine provinces of South Africa. The name in Sotho-Tswana languages means 'place of gold'. Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Academy is a women's soccer academy based in Pretoria, South Africa. The U/20 team competes in the SAFA Women's Regional League, Tshwane Women's Regional League, the third tier women's league in South Africa while the U/14 and U/16 teams compete in the Gauteng Women's Development League, the Gauteng regional women's football league for U/14 and U/16 teams in the province. It is the academy team of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies. U/20 In March 2024, they were runners up of the Pirates Cup (Women). They lost 4-3 via penalties to JVW B after the match ended in a 1–1 draw. JVW Girls also known as JVW U/16 and U/14 or JVW Gems is a women's soccer club based in Bedfordview, Gauteng. The team competes in the Gauteng Women's Development League, the Gauteng regional women's football league for U/14 and U/16 teams in South Africa. It is the academy of JVW.
