Gaia (Mägo De Oz Album)
''Gaia'' is a 2003 album by Spanish folk metal band Mägo de Oz. It is the first rock opera of a trilogy. The album tells of a woman, the reincarnation of Azzak (or Gaia), who after her execution, is relieved of her soul: the soul of Azzak. Gaia, now free of her mortal skin, uses an e-mail to converse with the man who ordered her execution and tells him the story of Azzak and her affair in Colonial times. Upon his finishing the e-mail, she appears before him and it is left as a cliffhanger for '' Gaia II: La Voz Dormida'' to finish. Mägo De Oz
Mägo de Oz (Spanish for ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Wizard of Oz'', with a metal umlaut) are a Spanish folk metal band from Madrid, Begoña, Madrid formed in mid-1988 by drummer Txus di Fellatio. The band became well known for the strong Celtic music, Celtic feel to their music strengthened through their consistent usage of a violinist and flautist. The name for the band was chosen, according to founding member Txus, because "life is a yellow brick road, on which we walk in the company of others searching for our dreams." On the 26th of October, 2018, the band played a special concert to celebrate their 30th anniversary, playing with a symphony orchestra at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, WiZink Center in Madrid. Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. It is characterised by the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech). It also sometimes features soft instrumentation influenced by folk rock. The earliest folk metal bands were Skyclad (band), Skyclad from England and Cruachan (band), Cruachan from Ireland. Psalm 23 is the 23rd psalm of the Book of Psalms, beginning in English in the King James Version: "The Lord is my shepherd". In Latin, it is known by the incipit, "". (; ) is a vengeful ghost in Hispanic American folklore who is said to roam near bodies of water mourning her children whom she drowned in a jealous rage after discovering her husband was unfaithful to her. Whoever hears her crying either suffers misfortune or death and their life becomes unsuccessful in every field. Origins Known for being La Malinche, Malintzin in her original nomenclature, today, the lore of La Llorona is well known in Mexico and the southwestern United States.
