David Baker-Gabb
David John Baker-Gabb is a New Zealand and Australian ornithologist. He is best known for his work on Australian birds of prey and the birds of Australia, New Zealand and Oceania. He also served from 1993 to 1997 as director of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union. Career Baker-Gabb studied agriculture and then biology at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, graduating in 1978 with a master's degree in science for his work on the swamp harrier. He then went to Monash University in Melbourne, where he studied the swamp harrier, the spotted harrier and other Australian birds of prey to earn his PhD. He devoted himself from 1984 to 1987 to the study and conservation of the plains-wanderer. Between 1988 and 1989 he studied the habits of the red goshawk in the Northern Territory until 1990 when he joined the Department of Conservation and Environment in Victoria as a manager of threatened fauna, a role he carried out until 1992. George Gabb
George Seymour Gabb M.B.E. (February 28, 1928 – March 1, 2007) was a Belizean artist, sculptor, writer and entertainer. Career Gabb was born in Belize City and educated no further than primary school. At age 13, he began to take up the arts and soon gained a following as a sculptor. Among his many creations are "The Sleeping Giant", a version of which is on the Belize $100 currency note, and the "Freedom of Thought" sculpture at the entrance to the city of Belmopan. He also had many other passions, and during his career he engaged in performance and entertainment, as well as writing poetry and plays. Some of his work in this area included "The Naked eye", a collection of poems and proverbs, and "Yellowtail", a play first performed in the 1960s. Harry Gabb
Harry Gabb CVO (1909 – 1995) was an English organist, who served at Llandaff Cathedral, St Paul's Cathedral and the Chapel Royal. Background (William) Harry Gabb was born in Ilford, Essex on 5 April 1909. He studied organ at the Royal College of Music where he won the George Carter Organ Scholarship. He was awarded the MVO in 1961 and the CVO in 1974. He was a Special Commissioner for the Royal School of Church Music, and as a Council Member of the Royal College of Organists. on 16 May 1974 he was awarded a Lambeth Doctor of Music by the Archbishop of Canterbury He died on 16 March 1995 at the age of 85. Moses Gabb
Joel Moses Gabb (21 November 1882 – 6 March 1951) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1919 to 1934, representing the electorate of Angas. He represented the Australian Labor Party until resigning during the 1931 Labor split; however, he did not join the United Australia Party along with the other dissident MPs, and instead remained in parliament as an independent. Early life, missionary and business work Gabb was born in Glenelg, and was educated at St Peter's College. He worked for printers A. & E. Lewis and then for grocers Barns, Stobie, & Co. after leaving school. The Libertarian Alliance (LA) refers to two libertarian think tanks in the UK. Originally one organisation, it split in 1982. One Libertarian Alliance was renamed "Mises UK" in 2017; the remaining Libertarian Alliance holds regular meetings in London. Early history The Libertarian Alliance was founded to advocate the abolition of taxation and government intervention in economic and social life. With ancestral ties to the Liberty and Property Defence League of Lord Elcho and Sir Ernest Benn's Society of Individualists, the LA was founded in the 1970s by Mark Brady, Judy Englander, David Ramsay Steele and Chris Tame in Woking. William More Gabb
William More Gabb (January 16, 1839 – May 30, 1878) was an American paleontologist. Gabb was born and educated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the leading center of American science at the time. He graduated from Jefferson Grammar School at age thirteen and was admitted to the prestigious Central High School of Philadelphia. He distinguished himself in his studies and showed an interest in natural history, conchology and geology. He graduated in 1857 with a bachelor of arts degree. Gabb chose to pursue a career in geology and sought the assistance of the notable geologist, James Hall in Albany, New York. For a time he became Hall's student and assistant before returning to Philadelphia in 1860.
