GM 5L40-E Transmission
The 5L40-E (and similar 5L50) are a series of automatic transmissions made by General Motors. Designed for longitudinal engine configurations, the series includes 5 forward gears and is used in the GM Sigma platform vehicles from Cadillac, the Pontiac Solstice, BMW, and Holden Commodore. The electronically controlled transmission is designed around a fully articulated Ravigneaux planetary gearset that is controlled by electronically timed application of several range-specific hydraulic clutches, in combination with mechanical one-way sprag clutches. The 5L40E unit's centerpiece is an automatic overdrive which supersedes the French-made 4L30E four-speed automatic light-duty gearboxes, and like them features a torque converter clutch to eliminate slipping losses in select forward ranges. Range Rover (L322)
The Land Rover Range Rover (L322), generally shortened to Range Rover, is the third-generation Range Rover from British carmaker Land Rover, produced from 2001 through 2012. Contrary to its forebears, it is the first Range Rover with a unitary body structure, and it switched to all around independent suspension instead of front and rear rigid, live axles. Just like its predecessor, it grew in size, and styling became more butch. The L322 was originally planned and developed as the 'L30', under BMW ownership. The vehicle was intended to share components and systems (electronics, core power units etc.) with the BMW 7 Series (E38). The Cadillac CTS is a luxury car, manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations. Initially available as a 4-door sedan using the GM Sigma platform, GM offered the second generation CTS in 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon, and the third generation as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform. The Cadillac XLR is a two-passenger roadster (automobile), roadster manufactured and marketed by Cadillac from 2003 to 2009 across a single generation. BMW Z3
The BMW Z3 is a range of two-seater sports cars which was produced from 1995 to 2002. The body styles of the range are: * 2-door roadster (automobile), roadster (E36/7 model code) * 2-door coupé (E36/8 model code) The Z3 was based on the BMW 3 Series Compact, E36/5 compact platform, a shortened version of the conventional E36 platform. BMW 5 Series (E39)
The BMW E39 is the fourth generation of the BMW 5 Series range of executive cars, which was manufactured from 1995 to 2004. It was launched in the saloon body style, with the station wagon body style (marketed as "Touring") introduced in 1996. The E39 was replaced by the BMW 5 Series (E60), E60 5 Series in 2003, however E39 Touring models remained in production until May 2004. BMW 3 Series (E46)
The BMW 3 Series (E46) is the fourth generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars manufactured by German automaker BMW. Produced from 1997 to 2006, it was the successor to the E36 3 Series, which ceased production in 2000. It was introduced in November 1997, and available in sedan, coupé, convertible, station wagon and hatchback body styles. The latter has been marketed as the 3 Series Compact. Pontiac G8
The Pontiac G8 is a full-size sedan that was produced by Holden in Australia for export to the United States, where it was sold by Pontiac. The G8, a rebadged Holden Commodore, was released in early 2008 for the 2008 model year in the United States, and in 2008 for the 2009 model year in Canada. Production stopped in mid-2009, following the GM decision to suspend the Pontiac brand. Holden WL Caprice
The Holden Caprice is a full-size car which was produced by Holden in Australia from 1990 to October 2017. The similar Holden Statesman, which was also introduced in 1990 as a model below the Caprice, was discontinued in September 2010. Between 1971 and 1985, Holden marketed their long-wheelbase sedans under the Statesman marque. Statesman and Caprice are essentially long-wheelbase variants of the Commodore range, and as of 2006, were the largest rear-wheel drive sedans offered by GM.
