The International Volleyball Federation commonly known by the acronym FIVB (''Fédération Internationale de Volleyball''). Is the international sports governing body, governing body for all forms of volleyball. Its headquarters are located in Lausanne, Switzerland, and its current president is Fabio Azevedo of Brazil. History Before the FIVB was founded volleyball was part of the International Amateur Handball Federation. The FIVB was founded in France in April 1947. In the late 1940s, some of the European national federations began to address the issue of creating an international governing body for the sport of volleyball. Initial discussions eventually lead to the installation of a Constitutive Congress in 1947. FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup
The FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup was an international volleyball competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. Initially, the tournament was played in the year following the Olympic Games, except for 1973 when no tournament was held, but between 1991 and 2019, the World Cup was awarded in the year preceding the Olympic Games. The 2023 edition, however, did not take place as the qualification tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympics was not officially recognized by the FIVB as a World Cup. The last champion was Brazil, who won their third title at the 2019 tournament. The 2019 edition of the competition involved twelve teams. The World Cup (with the exception of the 2019 edition) acted as the first qualification event for the following year's Olympic Games with the top two teams qualifying. The initial gap between championships was variable, but since 1970 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship, 1970 they have been awarded every four years. The tournament will be held biennially starting in 2025. The current champions are the Serbia women's national volleyball team, Serbia, which won their second title at the 2022 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship, 2022 tournament in Netherlands and Poland. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.
