Fundación De Conservación Jocotoco
Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco (Jocotoco Conservation Foundation) is an Ecuadorians, Ecuadorian Non-governmental organization, non-governmental environmental organization. It was established to purchase and protect land important to the conservation of endangered birds in Ecuador. Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco established its first reserve, the Tapichalaca Biological Reserve, in 1998 to protect the type locality and main range of the newly discovered Jocotoco antpitta (''Grallaria ridgelyi''). The reserve now protects more than 2870 hectares of forest and an associated 380+ species of birds and numerous range-restricted plants, amphibians, mammals, and invertebrates. Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco has established eleven reserves protecting : *Ayampe, Dry forest near the Pacific Ocean. Esmeraldas woodstar, great green macaw. *Buenaventura, wet upper foot hill forest on west slope of Andes. One of only a few localities for El Oro parakeet, and El Oro tapaculo. Als ...

Ecuadorians
Ecuadorians () are people identified with the South American country of Ecuador. This connection may be residential, legal, historical or cultural. For most Ecuadorians, several (or all) of these connections exist and are collectively the source of their being ''Ecuadorian''. Numerous indigenous cultures inhabited what is now Ecuadorian territory for several millennia before the expansion of the Inca Empire in the fifteenth century. The Las Vegas culture of coastal Ecuador is one of the oldest cultures in the Americas. The Valdivia culture is another well-known early Ecuadorian culture. Spaniards arrived in the sixteenth century, as did sub-Saharan Africans who were enslaved and transported across the Atlantic by Spaniards and other Europeans. The modern Ecuadorian population is principally descended from these three ancestral groups. As of the 2022 census, 77.5% of the population identified as Mestizo, a mix of Spanish and Indigenous American ancestry, up from 71.9% in 2000. T ...

It is found in Ecuador and Peru. Taxonomy and systematics The members of genus ''Anairetes'' are known commonly as tit-tyrants because their active foraging behavior and crests are reminiscent of the true tits in the family Paridae. The genus had formerly been named ''Spizitornis''.Remsen, J. V., Jr., J. I. Areta, E. Bonaccorso, S. Claramunt, G. Del-Rio, A. Jaramillo, D. F. Lane, M. B. Robbins, F. G. Stiles, and K. J. Zimmer. Greater Scythebill
The greater scythebill (''Drymotoxeres pucheranii'') is a Near Threatened species of suboscine passerine bird in the subfamily Dendrocolaptinae of the ovenbird family Furnariidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Taxonomy and systematics The greater scythebill was long included in genus '' Campylorhamphus'' with most other scythebills, but the discovery of its closer affinities with the scimitar-billed woodcreeper (''Drymornis bridgesii'') resulted in the creation of the new genus ''Drymotoxeres'' for the greater scythebill. The two are genetically more closely related to each other than to the other scythebills and woodcreepers. A high resolution version of the phylogenetic tree in Figure 1 is available from the first author's websithere The greater scythebill is the only member of its genus and is monotypic: no subspecies are recognized. Description The greater scythebill is long and weighs . It is the largest and heaviest scythebill with a shorter, stouter, a ...

Golden-plumed Parakeet
The golden-plumed parakeet (''Leptosittaca branickii'') is a Neotropical parrot species within the family Psittacidae, belonging to the monotypic genus ''Leptosittaca''. This somewhat ''Aratinga''-like species is found in humid temperate highland forests, especially with ''Podocarpus'', on the east Andean slope in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It is generally local and uncommon. It is threatened by habitat loss. Clearing of high-altitude forests for agricultural reasons have greatly impacted the loss of habitat for this parakeet species. Further reduction of such habitats will continue to diminish the number of golden-plumed parakeets left in South America. It is the only known parakeet species that can detect ultraviolet radiation Ultraviolet radiation, also known as simply UV, is electromagnetic radiation of wavelengths of 10–400 nanometers, shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays. UV radiation is present in sunlight and constitutes about 10% of t .... ...
